I'm fine with using Veronica here. I still like it, and may still use it in real life in the distant future. I guess maybe I'm not fine using Veronica here or anywhere. It still just doesn't feel like my name despite having used it here and elsewhere for a number of years. I like Leena much better. Maybe it's because it's short for a name people used to call me IRL...

I choose the name EJ because my full name is Eva jane, and EJ just sounds more gender neutral. Plus alot of my friends already call me that.

I think I mentioned a while back that I have a second Facebook account with a fake name (loading). I finally changed it today, to Avery, and it was stressful but worthwhile. Feels good to see it there

I'm really lucky because my birth name, Sasha, is gender neutral already so I never felt the need to change it. And congrats on the FB name change, Avery.

I want to change my name, officially. But before I do that I want my mother to accept and support the change. I might be asking too much though, and being far too polite in even asking for her opinion. I want to change my name to Petri and also throw in a male sounding name because I have a middle name that's a girl's name that I don't want to remove. When I told my mom that I wanted to add a boy's name to the mix, she said "NOOOooo please don't do it! Don't do it!!" In her most desperate voice.
The thing is, I can do it, I can change it right now and she can't do anything about it, I just want her to understand D: Why is this so hard?? I'll try to talk to her one more time. Then I'll change it regardless.
I could change my name to something completely different, but I don't want to do that (but my family reacts like Im insane as if I wanted to change my name to "Thunder the Pink Unicorn" or something). I want to keep it but make it more androgynous.

I wish parents were more accepting of these things.
That's kind of what I really want to do. I'm still not sure on Leena. It's a bit too feminine, which was part of my problem with Veronica, though I like it on my more feminine days.
My parents usually call me Pauli already, though if they wrote they'd spell it Paulie.

What about Paulina? That way you could mix the two names and shorten them as you want on the day or in the situation, Pauli or Lina/ Leena

That was sort of the idea, Leena was meant as short for Pauleena/Paulina, spelling was to make sure people didn't pronounce it to rhyme with Carolina. I still might use Paulina sometimes like that though.
I'm really liking Pauli though, it just already is my name however it is spelled. I was called Pauli before I even knew how to write. It's not quite the perfect unisex name as I would have liked, as spelling is kind of gendered, but it's the best I can do without changing to something else completely.
Hopefully, I will not want to change it again.

I don't even know if I'm in this thread already.
But here's the story again:
I picked mine because of meaning. Von means Hope in Icelandic. Battling clinical depression and anxiety, I need a little hope. Plus I like the length and the sound. It also sounds like Vaughn (which my bf maintains is a name for douchebags) I had it picked out for years before suggesting it to anyone. I even named a D&D character that just to test the waters. I may be playing them again, which will make it either very casual or awkward at the game table.
