a place to write them for us all, or interpret...., maybe this is a dup thread I dunno
I dreamed I had a wart on my left hand between thumb and forefinger.
I tried to remove it, and saw past the head.
It was 2 or 3 inches deep, like a golf ball, or spider.
So I got scared and just left it there.
In real life, I have no wart.
Bad dream. Nightmares every night now for a couple weeks.

I have them most every night, have for at least six years, seems like I have had them for a very long time. They are not so much nightmares anymore, I know where most come from. I'd call them something more like major trigger warning kinda dreams. DF wrote me a short story, it pretty much nailed what they are like.
I've seen video of me sleeping, even made a few myself not to long ago. Even if I don't remember having them, it's apparent that I do. Wake up tired because of them or the fricken drugs it takes to get me to sleep. Maybe a combination of them. I can go right over the top of what I take to make me sleep. I know what's coming, I can feel it. Sometimes it's just easier to not sleep. That's only good for one night at a time. I get by on 4-5 hrs of sleep most nights, 7 hrs is rare.
Some mornings I'm not even sure if I'm really awake getting coffee, I've been fooled by those a few times. But once I do wake up with the help of a massive dose of caffeine, I'm good to go. Until it's late at night again. Nightmares pretty much rob you of good sleep. I do have those nice in the morning ones though that I can let that feeling stick with me for a few hours. It's the ones before that I sometimes wake up and don't know that I am. I have been slowly working on them in therapy along with everything else. It has helped. *crap, know I have to wonder if I'm just dreaming this... lol. Nah, just finished my first half a pot of coffee. Ativan

I fell asleep this afternoon with the radio playing.. I was dreaming of Jamie when I woke up.. And there was a Stevie Nicks song playing in the background.. It was all very sweet...

I fell asleep this afternoon with the radio playing.. I was dreaming of Jamie when I woke up.. And there was a Stevie Nicks song playing in the background.. It was all very sweet... Well if your talking about me it was most definitely a nightmare. But when you talk about dreams and nightmares, most of the time it is just the subconscious mind sorting through all the stuff your conscious mind experiences through the day. They can be foreboding to something like a sickness in your body, they can also be flashbacks and so on. 90 minute cycles whether we are awake or asleep. When we are awake, the conscious mind will keep them in check. If you are sleep deprived you can actually go into a waking dream and actually hallucinate. Nothing major just like seeing something out of the corner of your eye and so on or shapes or just weird feelings or have audible hallicinations. Long distance truck drivers experience this phenomenon and call it "seeing little green men on the side of the road". A movie was made about it called Black Dog with Patrick Swayze but every driver I know always called it "little green men". Even Chris Ledoux mentioned it in one of his older songs about driving long distances from one Rodeo to another. But dreams have some really important messages if you can interpret them. The symbolism is what is hard to understand but Carl Jung wrote a book about dream interpretation and symbolism. I've read quite a few on dreams but his by far was the best. Writing them down before you forget them and every major incident in them and then looking it up can tell you a lot. Sometimes they are just meaningless subconscious images processing the days conscious mind experiences. But sometimes they are really important especially recurring dreams.

My dreams are nightmares the vast majority of times. They tend to represent whatever is currently worrying me greatly... It seems there's always some sort of crisis going on in my life.

I don't have many nightmares, I'm sorry you do Stephanie..
Most all of my vivid dreams I remember are just before I wake up. I think it helps having pleasing sounds and smells close by when you sleep. I always do squirt of perfume I love just before I sleep, and put my phone or tablet under my pillow on radio app to something peaceful.
Yes, I meant you above Jamie, thanks for that insight.. I call them shadow people, and see them a lot..

Delete, delete, deleted out a lot in quoting you, but this stuff is very true for me. If those flashbacks are disturbing, most call them PTSD, and there are even more effects from them. Sounds, smells, even the feel. The memories can be so strong with sight that it is hard to tell them from reality. I look for the details and when they aren't there, they settle back down. Even in the other effects, if the details aren't there, they settle down. By writing about them, in notes for myself, I've improved my memories quite a bit and they are still nightmares, weird as can be, but I know where they come from. Writing about them unleashes even more of them, than just thinking or trying to recall them later on. The stuff of morning coffee and cigarettes... Eventually they started to make a lot more sense. Little green men... sometimes those would be preferable. Close encounters of the third kind... Ativan

I used to have a lot of heart pounding nightmares, now there is only one occasional reoccurring nightmare that hunts me usually when I'm really overtired.
I'm on patrol in the Vo Dat Valley in Vietnam. We've been up this pathway before and had a brief firefight the previous day, now we are backtracking when the point man calls a halt. The column steps to either side of the trail and takes up a defensive posture, so I decide it's time to take a leak, sling my rifle and push the big leaves aside. There are three or four stiffs laying there face up all bloated and grey. One has his eyes open, though they are all glossed over and dried out, but it was as if he's staring at me. These are people that had tried to ambush us yesterday. I wake up in a sweat, huffing like a dog with my heart pounding. There came a time that I eventually began having conversations with that corpse, he was from Hue a city to the north, he had a wife and small child waiting for him...
I knew I was in trouble and went through seven years of intensive counseling for PTSD. I still have this dream occasionally, though not so often anymore. The dream itself caused me to soften my heart toward Vietnamese Americans and accept them as my own which gives it meaning.

My dreams are nightmares the vast majority of times. They tend to represent whatever is currently worrying me greatly... It seems there's always some sort of crisis going on in my life. Ok so everyone knows I am a little weird, maybe just a little off even, not riding the centerline, or whatever else. But I love having nightmares. I don't know why. Maybe I'm just a little deranged? But most of my dreams I am totally alone when there should be other people there. But I have a not really scared or bad feeling in them but just ethereal. OK so an example of a recurring dream that I have been having for a little over a year. I dream that I am driving a truck and delivering to a warehouse. When I back up to the dock I see that it is a hospital. I roam the hospital. There are sometimes other people there but they don't pay any attention to me. I am invisible. I go to a room and notice that the numbers on the room is 2424. I walk in and I see me in the bed, dead. All the monitors going off and flatlined. Now there are a few that I have told on here but I have been driving a truck for a while, lately it's been off and on because I own them and have drivers. I can't drive anymore for the company that I have my trucks leased with due to medication that I take and them changing their company policy. I could move them all but why start all over again? My drivers make money, I make a little money. I have a lot of freetime now without worrying about random drug tests and can delve fully into music. I'm not dead but the dreams stopped after this little deal went down. Death is symbolic of change in dreams and the truck( My career) and making a delivery to a hospital( Medication) and seeing myself dead (Change in life). They were always different warehouses, hospitals, trucks and my death but they always contained those four things. So that is one example of recurring dreams being a message. Different images but the same exact message which came to pass.

Little green men... sometimes those would be preferable. Close encounters of the third kind... Ativan Unfortunately the subconscious mind retains those bad experiences. It does suck having to relive them. Yeah the "little green men". Shit how many time I hit the brakes hard because it looked like someone or something was about to cross the road in front of me. Ativan dear, those are little greys that you get the close encounters from. I have helped a driver that broke down and gave him a ride to Cline's Corner NM. I was driving between Santa Fe NM between I25 and I40 on two lanes. I hit 40 in Cline's Corner. This guy was shook up. He told me when he topped the hill there was what he though was emergency vehicles in the middle of the road and hit the brakes hard and took the shoulder but the lights went up and he lost all power to the truck. I looked and all the wiring was fried under the hood, even his Qualcom. Don't know? Maybe maybe not. Company drivers get pushed pretty hard by college educated dispatchers that have watched too many Smokey and The Bandit movies. But then again, it could have been something. Regardless I looked under the hood and the wiring harnesses did seem to be burned up and melted. SO maybe, maybe not. Could have been sleep deprivation and coincidence or he could have actually seen what he says he saw. I have even heard on the CB of something in the skies many times out west that driver's couldn't explain. Some are planes that reach the 10,00o ft threshold to turn the landing lights on. Others venus on the horizon flikering and flashing. Even Sun dogs when the clouds and sun is setting just right and atmospheric conditions are just right. All the years I have only seen one thing that I couldn't explain. In Nevada evel less than 100 miles from the infamous Area 51. What? I don't know but it may or may not have been. I just know that aircraft don't use blue for lights and what I saw was definitely blue in color.

My dreams are about my fears... If I'm scared that a loved one might die due to a health crisis they're going through, I'll dream something representative of that, with the fear/terror cranked up to insane levels. Or I might dream about past sexual abuse and how shitty that felt... I always experience some negative emotion in my nightmares about a hundred times stronger than when I'm awake. I dunno how anyone could enjoy something like that. I guess our nightmares are felt differently? If they're just run of the mill bad things happening (or anything bad happening to me), then they don't bother me.

Depending on beliefs though, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are gone forever. That I don't either. I gave up trying to understand it. I have been there hon, like I said I must be really deranged. I guess I see myself as female in those dreams and even as invasive, perverted on his part and just plain old evil as he was, at least I perceive myself as a female in those dreams. I don't know and really don't know how to explain it but I would rather go through hell as a woman than walk in heaven as a man. Sometimes I do have good dreams of being me but... I done tole you I was deranged. Heaven and bliss as a man for eternity or hell and eternity and whatever else as a woman, I'll take the hell every time. Done been raped so that was sort of hell. Even though.... OMG I am a really messed up person. So it's a good thing I believe in reincarnation. But if not then so be it. I will take hell as a woman over heaven as a man any day.
