How do you personally cope with living with anxiety and fear? Do you have chronic issues with this?
Guess what, i run to Cinthia's office or get certain people on the phone or distract myself. Rarely do I deal with the core of the fear.
Thoughts my dear ones?

Reaching out for help when faced with fear and anxiety is a way to cope; one that should be celebrated and respected. It takes a very strong person to ask for help and know themselves well enough to know they need it. That's what friends are for and you are always welcome in my office Dealing with the core issues is where the real work begins. Unless we are willing to face the fears rarely do they go away on their own. I'm finding it difficult to walk through a few of these myself at the moment, but trust my journey will give me the answers I need when I need them.

I find that core to be elusive. It does not seem to like to be discovered. It prefers denial, that evil thing that eats us all alive, that and self deception. Both are deadly, to trans, for it causes us to transition in ways that are not our truth, and to alcoholics/ addicts, for it allows them or decieves them into drinking again, with the consequences that inevitably and painfully follow.
Thought i'd see you here. Very interested in if you will post on the control thread. I know you have special understandings of this, of self esteem issues, of avoiding being run over by others issues, there are many places where your input is of high value in our community.
So my dear, I suppose you said that when you grow up you want to hang out with about 50 of the top trans minds in the world? You are you know, and you have their attention and trust. Not bad ciswoman, not bad at all.

The elusive core hides from me at times or maybe just gets overpowered, after all she does fight for control with several others. Hmmm... funny there's that "control" word again, maybe I should check out that thread. Denial and self deception are dangerous for us all. Lying to ourselves takes us further from our truth and hides reality; rarely a good thing. You know my experience with addiction from the other side of the coin. Denial is dangerous here too. Funny how taking our blinders off and walking through the discomfort, pain or perceived dangers is actually less hurtful than hiding and running from them sometimes.

My dear, this is where you shine, do you have any idea how this post will help us transgendered souls? This is the core of surviving transgendered. IMO. One of the big truths and the beginning of self acceptance. Its hard to be a transsexual, you know, you see my pain when its too much...... Great post Cynthia, excellent.

I remind myself who I am and who I want to be. Fear is a weakness. It holds me back, makes me unhappy, and causes all sorts of problems. I have faced and conquered a lot of my problems. This is no different. It will take time and I need to be patient with myself, but I will conquer my fear too. I will use anything at my disposal to do so including asking for help if needed.

I like the way you approach life, Victor. Grab the bull by its horns, or so they say!

Fear can be crippling, we can assume if there is light and darkness with which we measure good and evil, fear definitely comes from the dark side and needs to be defeated to be able to enjoy any kind of personal success and expansion of one's own self esteem.

i see anxiety as a hormonal imbalance. that's even what it is, technically. fighting the hormones is difficult, i suspect different techniques work for different people. but the more authentically one lives, the less feed there will be for the anxiety.
instead of trying to control anxiety, i tell it that it's just a feeling that will pass. i have no reason to heed it at all. it always gets worse in the night. if i suddenly feel this odd emotion when i go to bed, i just identify it, pick it up, and throw it out of my conscious. the cause is always easier to identify the day after. usually turns out there was none. took me a trip to hell and back to figure out this is possible though...

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I've been dealing with anxiety issues for years. I find now that I'm finally facing myself in a true way my anxiety has increased, but I know I have to face my Fear and deal with it. I want to be free. I want to be Me. The only way I can describe my current situation is that I feel like I'm walking down a darkened path, with a small light in my hands trying to find my way. That small little light gives me hope that I will arrive at Home. We are never finished as human beings, but I believe that I will one day feel at home with myself. That is what I'm working towards and what I pray for.

We have to walk through it...
I was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder recently. Gender dysphoria, and GAD too. They say I manage it well.
I take a deep breath, and just keep going. But it bothers me.
I think you will find what you are looking for Lee. And you are looking in the right places. There is a wealth of knowledge in the thread histories here.
Anxiety drives me in many ways. It is one reason I post so much. Posting helps relieve it.

I am sure GAD and TG goes hand in hand. Of course it's not at all a disorder because our fears are actually real. People are horrid to us. The same is true of depression, medically you are not depressed if you are just dealing with a lot of horrid stuff, you are just suffering from a horrid situation and that is very different from actual depression.
I had general a TG induced GAD and depression. They are gettting better now, but only becuase I know I pass 100% of the time so I am not going to get hassle for it. Its a solution, if not for the right reasons.
