Did ok, then all of a sudden wham, anxiety attack.
It just comes on out of nowhere at times, this one is job related, sudden, paralyzing.
At least gender is out of it now. I think it may have been good to challenge myself yesterday with the bathroom thing. Learning that is a viable reality, if I wanted it.
Its another piece of the puzzle of me...
Breathe Trinity, let it blow through you like the wind, it will pass.

Breathe Trinity, let it blow through you like the wind, it will pass. Yes, it's the only thing you can do... Your comments have been very helpful. Yes there is something that is not working, I am out of balance, have no down time. That is a real problem.
I need to make some.
A bit better now. I need to quiet down some. Say less and help more.

This is an important thread and started with great comments from friends who helped launch this forum. For me anxiety and stress have always gone hand in hand. While I don't regard them as synonymous I do find that in my case one follows the other just as surely as night follows day.
Boiling it down, much of this is legacy. When I feel anxious I normally feel a deep fear of failure, discovery, ridicule etc. My reflex coping strategy has been to withdraw emotionally and to focus on being the most phlegmatic alpha male that I could, and this has always worked. It has worked so well that I learned to hide in this construct whenever anxiety or stress threatened.
It is only now that I have found myself able to stay, to remain rather than to flee, to feel rather than to shut down.
The other consequence of stress and anxiety for me is that it was always associated with a spike in my dysphoria and I have always felt an urgent need to quickly reassert my feminine and rebalance my self.
There is so much going on here that it has taken a while for me to unpack. But unpacking this is what I have done. Being fully present. Being open, available and exposed in truth, is my best way of being, of living and finding peace, authenticity and equilibrium. Perhaps my dysphoria and my lack of the right hormones have caused this response to stress and anxiety. However I don't think that over analysis and rumination makes a whole lot of sense. My endo helped fix my chemistry, my counsellor and therapists have helped equip me to find and to accept my self and now I am better able to stay, rather than to flee, and anxiety is recognised, embraced and accepted. It is now welcomed as an old friend rather than seen as a threat or as an adversary.
Life is funny isn't it. Another learning, another discovery and another twist in the road.
Safe travels
Aisla

Speaking of living with anxiety... Today I was cashier trained at Whole Foods. That last hour of my shift where I was actually on register had me super anxious. I have Social Anxiety Disorder/Phobia, so people make me go AHHHHH! And tomorrow I have a four hour shift as cashier! I'm just going to try to keep breathing and hang on the best I can!

Are you new at being a cashier? If so, I think that you'll get less anxious the more you do it - if you keep exposing yourself to what is causing you anxiety and tell yourself that you're OK, etc it will get better with time.

Struggling here. Both me and my daughters.
Kids have been on the "Ativan" drug before. My eldest is going in for evaluation again, she has lost the handle, its driving her and everyone else crazy.
I am thinking of it too for me, my discomfort is pretty bad, 8 out of 10 easy at work. Any feedback on this, as an alcoholic/addict I have reservations about anything I can feel, but I think a low dose may be appropriate as needed.
I wont go on a mood stabilizer.
Thoughts?

I don't know if I'm the right person to answer this because I've never been on that type of medication. I will say, though, that if you're in a mental state that is causing you much suffering then it might be a good idea to find some relief - to calm down an overtaxed system. Then you would use the medication like a band-aid for a period of time. There's no shame in needing additional help. However, if Ativan is addictive then it's extremely important that your doctor knows about your history so you can figure out the best way to go about it. No matter if you start using the medication or not, I think it's crucial to also work on your anxiety in other ways (facing, relaxing into it instead of fighting it, mindfulness, meditation, etc); to overcome it in the long run. It is possible to get better, that much I know. Wishing that you and your daughters will feel better soon.
