Cannot jog without wearing a sports bra now. Ouch. Ah the joys of transition. Wait'll second puberty hits....you may experience some fun there if our paths are at all similar. Hard to know.

You will slam the door into one of them sooner or later, the pain is blinding if you hit hard enough. Otherwise, you might try to dodge the door and hit the door frame anyways. Either way it hurts. I laughed when I heard someone tell me this, then I did it like a week later, even being careful and knowing it is likely didn't help. Avoiding doors is your only option, watch out for the fridge door as well, that one is easy to do as well. I know, it sounds as stupid as hitting your head with a hammer, but you just haven't done that yet either....

Went to my old college and stepped on their mainstage for the first time in 40 years.
What a reality check. The feelings that came up.
It all flooded back.
Gave the staff links to Indictment, came out, they looked at me like i had 3 heads, but respectfully.
Glad i did it. Eye opener, perspective creator.
All good though.
I was andro presenting, my normal.

So I got an email from my apartment management that my smoke alarm battery was about to expire and to disconnect it and put in a repair order, and sure enough it did at 2am. Couldn't figure out how to disconnect it, and it made a LOUD beep like every 30 seconds. I had planned to sleep in because I had a late afternoon electrolysis appointment, but there was no way I was getting back to sleep.
Put on my noise cancelling headphones, which were less than effective, and cleaned up my apartment, then spent the whole day out. Had lunch at a diner to kill some time, and my waitress's name was Paulina. Kind of made me jealous, I think I'd rather be a waitress at a diner than whatever the hell I'm doing right now...
Also kept falling asleep while getting electrolysis on my upper lip. It was a less rude awakening than last night. They didn't even fix it, but at least I figured out how to disconnect it.

Mine are all wired into the building, no batteries, but all you should need is a nine volt, getting them in is a pain sometimes and there is usually a key sort of thing that lets it know its in there right, seems like they have to make something that simple just hard to do. I hear other peoples smoke ones going off at odd times, its irritating in the evening and later, and sometimes they are going off for so long I can't believe that even just the cops don't come to check, a real fire here and the entire place would be gone before they could round up the volunteer fire dept. It's supposed to be hooked into their systems and the cop shop, but they never seem to come out here for them, I could be wrong, but the easiest way for them to get in is the v=back parking lot and I'd see their lights which they love to use at night, and sirens, and just cop shenanigans in general. They have one squad car loaded with even license plate readers when you drive by, on each side and stuff I don't even know what it is, and it seems like the slightest thing outside of town will get them going with ten different siren styles and the fricken lights all over them, I mean way more than anyone else in this state, even the state troopers don't get all that shit. You'd think that if they read the battery well enough to send you an email as if they do read them, then why do you have to disconnect it and send in a repair order, can't they just email that in before it starts to go off? strange...

No, this isn't some nine volt. It's some sort of lithium that lasts 10 years and exactly 10 years. Or at least detects it and gives the warning in 10 years. Some sort of internal clock built in that activated when they were installed I guess. Another apartment in the building was beeping yesterday.
Reset button did NOT work, though disconnecting it did.

I suppose its set to go off at some voltage most likely, but maybe not, ten years is a long time to expect something like that to work accurately, but who knows? They do annual inspections on these here, check to make sure it beeps.

They do annual inspections on these here, check to make sure it beeps. I'm still thinking internal clock. One would expect a digital watch to keep time, even if it was 10 years old. Also, these things are going off all over the complex. They probably had the idea to have them installed at the start of last decade, and it took them several weeks to do it.
Strange to think about how much different my life was 10 years ago...

Ten years ago I was trying to piece my life back together, fighting to get the last of my problems behind me and move forward. I had already more than hit bottom and was just finishing up the last of the pieces. Court cases to win, getting back pay, trying to re establish myself, took some doing, but I prevailed. You always have to be willing to take the chances and risks if you want the rewards. And be willing to take it if it all fars apart on you, one thing we can always do, and thats start over and it isn't near as bad as not taking the risks to begin with. Otherwise, we just stay in one place and do less than survive, we just exist and that's no way to live.
I'll bet they were on some timer then, must be wild having all those alarms going off one by one.

Strange to think about how much different my life was 10 years ago... Weird thing to think about. 10 years ago, I didn't know my husband. I had issues with an eating disorder... so I weighed about 35lbs less than I do now, and was constantly weighing myself and looking in mirrors. I was still dealing with the effects of being in a very abusive household for 18 years and finally getting away, so I had a lot more mental health problems then than I do now. No GED, no driver's license. Stuck with an asshole that didn't want to help at all, who said it was my mom's responsibility to help while also telling me I shouldn't talk to my mom because she's shit. I can't argue that she's shit. But, his logic of "I won't help you because your mom should be the one doing it, but also don't talk to your mom" was kind of flawed. I think he just wanted me as his property or something. And I figured I'd be stuck with him because his family was the closest thing to family I had ever had at that point. You all know where I am now. Most, if not all of that is a non-issue now, aside from still dealing with some mental health issues.. but nothing like I was then. I don't even care about my weight anymore. We got a scale for the bathroom, my husband wanted it. I was kind of afraid to have one, after how I was before. But, I do weigh myself every morning before I get in the shower.. but now it's more about just paying attention for any changes. I don't actually care what the number says. I guess 10 years does make a difference.

Went out to lunch and was asked my name for some reason even though he also gave me a number to put on my table. Gave Leena, and when I got my receipt he put Lea. Beats Peter I guess, since that's what places usually put down if I try to be unisex and say PJ. I guess this is probably the first time of many times of this happening. Sigh, I guess I can at least say "May the force be with you" if they call me that...

Lots and lots of stories about how badly they mangle peoples names at a starbucks. But they aren't paying attention to you as much as people think they are and a name that works easy enough for them is what you are going to get. Can you imagine them trying to spell all the funky ways people spell normal names, and then the really made up names or the names of things that are not even people. Get that server a few times or make a joke out of how they missed on your name from before and they'll remember, don't leave a tip except a note letting them know that if they can't remember a name, then they aren't going to remember a tip. But I'd give anyone with a job like that a lot of slack for the details, they are more concerned about getting your order right and then to you ontime, and that's really the function they have, the little stuff like have a nice day and smiley faces on receipts and even names are fluff. I use Ativan at times and it throws people right away, you mean like the...? yah, just like the ... and then they forget it completely they don't even try to use a name most of the time. Throwing NB into the mix and they just get this deer in the headlights look and mutter something that they can't figure it all out or that they have a hard time thinking and they walk away, I have never gotten any shit in the last five years, probably ten or fifteen.

I usually correct it if they repeat it, but sometimes they just put it into the computer, and someone else calls it out when my order is ready. I do think I need to work on my volume. I can get a feminine sounding voice if I speak softly, but some people can't understand it. Then I speak louder and it sounds more masculine and I get called sir.
