I went public against some transphobia today in a different setting full of cis folk. Hope there is no retaliation, but I just spoke the truth. Has nothing to do with medical, has everything to do with entertainment. This is why drag shows rub me the wrong way, it reinforces this idea that we are guys in drag.
I sure as hell am not.
I still kind of wish I had done drag when I was younger. It was one of the few outlets back then. It is still is for a lot of trans people. Transphobes still would be bigots if drag didn't exist, they'd just say other things.
True.
I'm not sure why it rubs me the wrong way, but it does. I have to lose my attitude about it.

I really don't see the point considering its a show, I mean everyone knows and its obvious they are over doing it because its a stage setting. It isn't like they dress for realife or the street, sure it might be a way to do that, but its flaunting it under the lights and there seems like something is just wrong with that for me. RuPauls Dragrace takes the cake for that overly obviousness and overdone stage look, which does come off as a guy in a dress sort of look to me. I pretty much leave it as 'to each their own' kind of thinking, I certainly don't dwell on it, the question for that would be why?

I pretty much leave it as 'to each their own' kind of thinking, I certainly don't dwell on it, the question for that would be why? The problem I have is that the cis and especially cis opponents apply the drag thing to me and my life and then try to keep me out of the women's bathroom.
They see that, and then I have to overcome the stereotype off the stage.
So because it creates fear in me, I have a reaction to it. The obvious counter is more trans folk being seen as who they are, then people will recognize that there is another reality to it, and not lump me in as a drag queen. When I say I am trans, that's the first thing people think, but after they know me for about 5 minutes, they realize its nothing like that with me, and then they have to undue previous perceptions.
AEA and the industry is working hard to change that perception problem, which in some ways they created, but there is penetration into the film industry where we are being represented as who we really are, and there is considerable pressure by the trans community to keep it that way.

I pretty much leave it as 'to each their own' kind of thinking, I certainly don't dwell on it, the question for that would be why? I don't really understand the motivations of cis men who do drag, but I don't really understand why they do half the things they do. Going over the top is sort of the point of that form of performance art and I'm not sure how it would work if it wasn't.
I don't particularly like Drag Race, though drag shows in clubs are a lot different. I stumbled into one by accident over a decade ago and it changed my life. There were clearly other trans people that were not performers in the audience and they were happy out being themselves and not hiding in the closet like I was.
I do understand not wanting to be thought of as a cis gay male drag queen though. That's the main reason I didn't do it when some of my friends were suggesting I do it. Might have been partly internalized homophobia, but I also am not a cis gay man, and a lot of people tended to think I was pre-transition.

Cis males are easily confused and when they are they tend to have strong dislikes for anything that is confusing to them. I think what happens t some gay males is that they become confused by sexuality and try to compensate by going drag. Trans is not drag, drag is an art form but it makes fun of the trans person by over doing it, its like the slapstick of gender presentation. And slapstick can easily confuse the average cis male.

I'm watching the commercials on the football game tonight (Tampa is playing) and the way its targetting the guys.
It's so funny to me. I'm not anything like the target audience.
It all looks so silly to me.
Way more fun to be NB and free.

I have to admit I have no idea who Carrie Underwood is, sure I've heard the name, but nothing about them. Pretty sure That Girl was someone else for that show.

The new avatar pic.
It actually looks like me, and its usually hard to get a pic that I think looks like who I really am.
That one does.

Went to work today, wore a suitjacket.
Over a tight blouse that ties in the back, womens jeans, knee high boots, feather earing in. And I took that jacket off mid day.
I have so much respect at that place, and there was a new guy there, probably the second time he saw me.
We were working our asses off and started talking guns and instruments and just working hard, and I wasn;t in the act kind of thing and sh'e took over and it was real strong and I just let h'er, let me that is, just relaxed and didn't fight my gender.
That guy bought me lunch, for no reason but that he wanted to do it.
Bosses were there, I had absolutely no problems, full out trans female, they were gendering me he and I didn't bother to correct them, why, they respect me for being who I am and I'm nonbinary trans so who cares, I don't.
Got work done, glad I went in, outside rep came in I havent seen in five years, lots of folk I hadn't seen in five years, they aged, I changed, it was all just big smiles and how are ya, and business at hand. Just all good.
Son in law was there and he looked happy, they just like that I had and have the balls to be who I am and working hard and doing what I do.
Yeah, I feel good, that's how its supposed to be, the guys that gave me problems are gone, the newbies don't care what I am, they care who I am instead.
It was very encouraging, not just for me, for all of us.
Hugs.

I've noticed some high school students after they get out from school who are very NB looking as in a little eye makeup and feminine sort of clothes, but I have no idea if they are or not, could be just a fashion statement for them. It isn't like they are walking or talking feminine, but they do give off that kind of vibe at the same time. But the thing I notice even more is that nobody gives them any crap, treat them like they treat everyone, a couple years ago I would have heard people at the least talking behind their backs. Acceptance is an easy thing to do and I kinda suppose that since everyone is PTSDing off the covid stuff that this is a non thing to them by comparison, I've noticed a lot of people just seem to be acting and are nicer than they used to be. Covid is on the rise in the state here and its picking up in the rural areas, notice posted today in the hallways that someone in the building has tested positive, but privacy crap, they won't say who, I asked the building manager today while grocery shopping. Kid checking me out at the register looked at all the veggies and berries and commented on the berries being a lot of them, looked me in the eye and said good for me, a healthy diet and I suppose it really looks that way, no packaged crapola other than one small box of crackers that since it was dirt cheap, why not, probably will go stale before I eat half of it, thats the way that goes, but a little carb cheat here and there is nothing considering I eat so little and what I do get from veggies and fruit is compensated because of what they are. The more I slowly learn the more I know why my formerly big bely is now just about like it has been for decades, not much at all, like laying on my back there is a dip between my ribs and hips and I have a waist that goes in instead of out. But the real kicker for me is that I was having so much difficulty just walking even a block, have to stop because my legs ached so bad, wait a minute and keep going, walking up the stairway three floors to my apt was a stop at every landing, the Drs said nothing can be done because getting old you know. Today I had a particularly heavy load of groceries and legs were just fine all the way back and just kept right on going at the top of the stairs, so this is three blocks to the store, walking through the store, three blocks back and up three flights, no fricken problem, it from eating right. Hair is , maybe my imagination but..., losing some of the grey and its growing a lot better, like way better, and I have lost that chicken skin look that old people like me get on their arms and sometimes legs, its gone from my arms and I have noticeably less wrinkles on my face and my hands are like twenty years younger looking, depression is a slight thing once in a while now, I had a psoriasis outbreak and that is now gone, but that came when I think I was down with covid, I was breathing pretty ok but had most of the symptoms and felt like I was going to die everyday a year ago, its been a year but had my booster shot last week so maybe get through this winter without wondering day after day if this is going to be the last day, and yes it was that bad, wouldn't wish it on anyone but the antivaxxers. But despite it coming back around again up here, it is nothing like most of the rest of the country, rates are still lower here than most places, some places are better, but not that many, so I think people are getting used to it being better and are poking their heads up and noticing that it feels like its mostly over and that just makes people a lot easier to get along with, even if it is the great white north flannel shirts and boots rural self centered republican country, not all of them, but enough of them to make life miserable for everyone else.

Went shopping today presenting more androgynous with a polo shirt, women's jeans, light eye makeup, and clear nail polish with barely noticeable silver sparkles. Interacted with a few people and didn't get gendered by anyone.
This was pretty much how I was presenting on casual Fridays at the last office job I had, minus the physical changes from HRT. It's still in my comfort zone, though about as far masculine as I go now. Maybe more feminine office clothes will be eventually, but I really had to baby step my way into presenting more feminine outside of the office.
