Entering the non binary. With the end of summer approaching, the stores are starting to stock winter clothes. For years, I have wanted a pair of nice, long boots. And obviously, if you are in the closet, this is totally denied. But now that I am not in the closet, am declared gender nonconformist, or non binary to my wife I am allowed to buy my first pair. It is so hard, this is the only pair of size 9 (uk 9) at present but more will come in to stock as the season progresses. But after a lifetime of denial I cannot wait. But I think I will. This is like being a teenager all over again, how does it look, will it suit me, etc, esp as I will wear them mainly with male clothes ( jeans and shirts). Sigh. It is so hard not to get swept away in the rush.

wait till you meet that special pair that seem to beg you to buy them.
don't take the first you see, let the first pair be very special to you.

I can relate to that first time sense of anticipation, and how we obsess over these things until they are ours.

Its an exciting time. You will like it.
Nice and slow honey, for the wife...let things become normal for her. Knee high boots become normal... It takes a while each wife is different. And do get what you want.
Lol i have 3 pairs and want a higher heel on the next one..

I slowly began to collect a few women's tops, not the real frilly ones, but those a little more unisex looking, flowers and a lot of frilly fru-fru doesn't do it for me. I began wearing my shirttails out and untucked and preferred how women's are cut at the bottom as opposed to men's. Eventually I traded out my men's jeans for women's, they are cut differently and though they have a zipper in front, one has to pull them down somewhat or to sit to pee, which I prefer. I like the material as it has some elasticity and moves with your body, I wear mine high into the crotch unlike men who wear their jeans hanging low off their hips. The women's tops I buy are intentionally a bit longer and intended to be worn outside and untucked from the jeans which neatly covers the zippered front of the jeans and the upper half of my big buns in the back. I recently had my typically male "love handles" lipo-suctioned away which leaves me with a nice shape from behind as women's tops are generally tapered through the waistline. These are just little things that you can add to your wardrobe as you move from the cis male realm and transition into the non-binary world.
As for footwear, I haven't bought any real boots so far, but have a three pairs of women's, a walking shoe, ankle boots and some clogs. I really just prefer tennis-shoes and sandals during the better weather months.
Bras, I had at least twenty bras and finally threw them all out. I really don't need them as my boobs project out pretty well on their own probably because I exercise my pec muscles in the shower each day. Bras give me more projection than I want as a non binary person. If I was full MtF that might be reason to have several good bras.

Thanks all for the feedback. It's a really intereting time. Feel nervous, excited, scared. But ultimately happy that I am starting to engage with the whole of me.

Cherie, One day I'll show up on your doorstep maybe with Aisla, maybe on motorbikes, and we'll go shopping for totally amazing clothes both butch and femme that will make your little nonBinary heart sing. Count on it.

I long to be able to present as feminine publicly. As of now, I present as male socially, I am unintentionally androgynous in appearance that I can occasionally pass as female. I had a dream last night that I was dressed in pastel goth clothing (skirt and all) and had long purple hair instead of just wearing black pants or neutral clothing as I tend to do nowadays.
Sigh, one day. One day, I will be able to fluidly shift between male and female presentations to my heart's content. This thread gives me hope for the future.

I'll come by wearing a steam punk guy outfit, and with you in splendid goth we shall delight OZ. We both get purple hair (or maybe rainbow?) though. Ming

Just donated all of my feminine things to a good used clothing place. Moving here has space limitations and it was either them or my black T's and camo or black cargo pants. I also unloaded about 4 dozen colored T's and a couple dozen pairs of jeans... Not to mention winter coats and long sleeve shirts and pull-overs. Everything I held dear to being feminine went. But I look forward to the time where I can restock, it'll be fun all over again. Did buy some more black T's and a couple pairs of camo pants, just kept thinking I can still look feminine in a kick your ass way. Small town MN living for now.

Let me know when you're ready to rebuild your wardrobe, I'm a thrift store junky and would love to come out for a shopping trip - even to Minnesota if you would like company for the fun.

I could not have done that.... It was a sad moment, but it passed. I did keep my mid calf wool pea coat, but I had also changed the buttons to male. Has a narrow waist.
