Hi.
I haven't posted that many times on this site, but I wanted to say something positive. I'm a member of a trans/non-binary/ally chorus. We rehearsed this evening, and had a very good time. I've never felt more comfortable calling myself non-binary. Comfortable being called Jeff or Abby, and the people in my chorus accept this without me having to over explain it. I also feel more confident as my non-binary self. I wish everyone had a place where they can be their true selves cause I know some people dont. I have a degree in mental health counseling, and I think the statistics on mental health in transgender individuals suck. If any other sub-culture of people had the same statistocs, a public health crisis would have been declared a long time ago. Any way that was my day, and subsequent rant. I hope anyone reading this has an amazing day/life.

I'm dying for a safe space to be my authentic self, but I haven't found one yet. Your words are very kind - we really do all deserve a place to be ourselves without fear. <3

Yes the chorus is awesome. The director is trans, and thanks to his coaching I can hit a soprano high g. To give some reference, the high notes in Sara Berelis's (not sure if I spelled her name right) are a little below that. Though he doesn't use bass tenor Alto soprano to divide parts cause that system has become too gendered with part assignment. The parts are earth fire water and air from the bottom up. I tend to take the air parts. But I'm not sure if I would have started using them/their pronouns if I hadn't joined to chorus. Just some more background info on the chorus. The director always says he created it because he wants people to talk positively about the trans community without using the word bathroom. And it's also a space for those transitioning to explore their voice changes, and use their voice changes. Even for those like me not on hormone therapy. Any way. Hope everyone is having a good day.
