Well its a bit self serving but I thought I'd put it here instead of the blog, a public thingy.
So I went to the union meeting on the Orlando Fringe (it was open to nonunion as well) and it was very instructive.
There is definitely a performance path to doing Indictment there, either next year or the year following. And the production costs are thousands of dollars less than the standard stage stuff.
I learned more about theater producing in that short period than in a long time.
But the Orlando fringe, if I have the guts to do it, and if my wife doesn't block it which is the really big thing, is the perfect venue for me to roll out Indictment, and there would be a ripple effect when I do it.
Also, I got more clarity on the Miami project if that goes forward.
But here is the thing, doing theater here as The Trans Actor in Florida is not the branding I want to do. I am more and more sure that I don't want to be manipulated by others art, if I agree with it, then yes, certainly, but if not, no.
And the other thing, and this actually was told to me by Melba, the Warhol star, is that I need to maintain both the nonbinary androgyne/ or male Perry Barden, for those kinds of roles, and the Trans actor Trinity Satin Joy, for those niche opportunities.
So the field is here to sow, but the preparation to do it will take me at least a year.
Anyway, I'm just letting it out there.
I could do Indictment, with tech support, for a grand down here. It would have been 20 grand in NYC.
Anyway, there are options, and now several producers have seen my face (nonbinary sh'e/they, feather earing and very androgyne). And even that little exposure is a good thing.
So, not much to say. Except it isn't over now that I left NY after all.
If you haven't seen a trans actor act, please do. There are a bunch of films coming up, our times have come, as well as the continuing fight to break the stereotypes and the casting of cis actors in trans roles, which hurts us most of the time.
