So, I've been reading about the effects of low dose T, and I read somewhere that it would cause genital growth. Is this true? If so, how long does it take for this to happen? If I were to go on T in the future, this would be something that I definately want to avoid. I'm wondering if it would be possible to go on T for a while, but stop before that happens?

If I were to go on T in the future, this would be something that I definately want to avoid. I'm wondering if it would be possible to go on T for a while, but stop before that happens? Unfortunately with T you really can't pick and choose which effects you experience. But the growth isn't as scary as it seems at first ! When I first read about it I was like WHAT but the more I looked into it the more comfortable I became. My T journey is also a temporary one in that I'm only on hormones til my voice drops and stabilizes and then I'll stop taking them. I figure it'll take 9-12 months. In that time the growth can be 1-3 cm which seems like a lot but it's invisible unless you're aroused. And it takes quite a while to get to 3cm or more ! So depending which effects you want, you could go on T temporarily, but it's unlikely youd avoid the growth entirely Another thing to look into is the cream, I've heard that it causes less growth down there but can't confirm!

Thanks! Are you on a low dose or a full one? I think the only difference between those is that the changes happen slower with a low dose, right?

Yep! So I'm on a bit of a higher dose, 50mcg per week (so 0.5 mL) but that might change after my blood test results get back to check levels. Your doctor can figure out the best levels for you and your body since it also depends on how much estrogen gets produced in response to the higher levels of T.
Can I ask what changes you're hoping to get ?

The main thing is a lower voice, but it would also be nice to have the different fat distribution. Though, that isn't permanent, and if I do go on T, I don't think I'll stay on it. It would also be kinda neat to have a beard, though I don't think that would happen, and it wouldn't be permanant either...

It's the reason I'm on T temporarily, because I don't want facial hair Why don't you think you'll stay on it? Because of the genital growth ?

Oh, it is? That's great! Yeah, I guess that's the only reason. It's kind of a big one for me though. But I guess if it didn't get too noticable that would be fine. Do you have any idea of how noticable it would be if you stayed on T?

You can definitely check out the tumblr blogs for FTMs and FTNs, they have lots of pictures and things, but I'm not sure to be honest, because it's one of those effects that I'm relatively ambivalent about.
I think the average growth is to 1.5 inches though?

Most of the T peen growth you'd get would happen within the first year. It's one of the first changes along with the voice deepening that people usually notice.
I already had an enlarged peen since birth (woah, that made going through a "female" puberty awkward lol getting erections randomly) so going on T just made it bigger and more penis-like looking.
Unlike most AFAB folks, I don't have any ligaments holding my peen down so it sticks up and out like someone's results would look like post-simple release (where they cut the ligaments so the peen hangs out rather than being tucked away)
Sometimes, I wished I had ligaments holding it tucked away because OH MY LORDIE, when my peen rubs against the seam of my underwear/pants, it hurts! Oh, the woes of having a sensitive peen!
I am asexual too so I completely understand if you're wary of T growth and heightened libido. If it's any comfort, the heightened libido is only temporary. I found myself shifting back to my pre-T libido level which was practically non-existent.
I started out on tri-weekly testosterone shots in late 2011, shifted to 4ml Reandron tri-monthly shots in late 2012. After my hysterectomy, I experienced hot flushes and mood imbalance, I felt physically "off" like not 100% despite still being on the same level of T. I asked my endo if I could go low-dose T as I was happy with my current state of masculinity and didn't want to masculise further and was finding I'm getting mad/easily irritable on that T dose. He said that's fine because the normal T dose I was originally on was trying to suppress the estrogen, so now that there's no estrogen, I can certainly take a lower dose. I think I also asked for low-dose (25mcg) estrogen patches as well to combat the hot flushes and mood imbalance. Both helped tremendously and I'm glad I listened to my body.
I'm currently on 50mcg estrogen patches and will be starting 1 tablet of andriol (testosterone) a day. I would like my estrogen to be on the higher range and testosterone on the lower range. Too much testosterone and I get really angry/irritable from dysphoria and T not agreeing with my body/mind anymore.
Feel feel to ask any questions!

Its true gentials growing on testosterone, even on low dose. the biggest part is in the first 2 years, but won't stop transforming is a continuous process it stops only when you stop Testosterone. Gentials wil changing changing and changing, if i see ours, our clitoris has grown out over 20 years on testosterone use and has more and more became the structure of a micro penis. The doctors who are transforming us, sayd also at the start of our transformation, that we should have over a long period of testosterone use ( we use testosterone without estrogen blockers ) a other and different body structure then we have had at the start, and that we transform into clear bigender/third sex persons. If we see pictures from the past and now, we see clear the changes we've made we've transitioned very clear from tomboy looking females into males with an female structure. WE didn't have had any surgery's , but the testosterone has brought us a lot, we became heavy manly haired have low voices muscular smell different, but we have also female structure glad and smooth skin ( like baby face for men ) our hands structure didn't change our breasts size didn't change only they are slacker, hips they didn't changed a lot, hair on our heads didn't change, the doctors has transformed us both complete to the middle off the gender spectrum, and with the result of the transforming we're happy as hell
