So one of the super nice perks of me being a student now is I get to have a free membership at my local Y, for being a student at the community college I go to. So I signed up today which I’m excited about bc yay I get to work out for free!! However, I don’t know which locker room to use. Like I wouldn’t mind using men one bc like I’d get less shit about it bc of well... having a M marker on my ID, however the fact I’m curvy, & have boobs now would make it awkward. As for the women’s room, well I know I’d probably feel more comfortable & I’d not have to worry about my chest being seen, bc well duuuhhh obvs reasons & me having curves & boobs who’d double look at me as long my dick stayed hidden. I just wouldn’t want to deal with someone who would make a deal about it bc I know I’d feel extremely awkward & ashamed.
I asked my boyfriend’s opinion & he said he thinks I should use the girl’s room bc I’d be more comfortable, and said i could ask one the staff members which one I could use if I really wanted to know for sure about not getting in trouble. But he says I should just go for it since people are more accepting.
Which I’ve thought about doing too as well, but that’d be awkward having to ask staff which locker room I should use plus I’d be outing myself. Soo meehh idk?? Maybe I could use girls one when I’m freshly shaved, and when my facial/body hair is more noticeable just use the men’s.
What do you guys think? Or which locker room do you use, or wish you could without weird awkwardness? I mean I realize no matter which locker room I use it’d be awkward and uncomfortable around others in there.
Edit: I just realized I think I put this thread in wrong sub forum. My bad.

The end way that cis is going to judge is by genitals, but not all will or would. But that any one of the woman could complain, then it stirs it up. There was one place where a woman said she was going to quit that gym if they let a transwoman use the womans locker room. They refunded her dues and said have a nice day, she tried to sue but a judge told her pretty much to find a place that accepts people like her. But I don't think that small boobs would be a problem in the mens, a lot of ment look that way anyways, just tell them its that mens boob thing. Medical excuses go a long ways, but if there is conflict, it always comes down to genitals unless the staff is really trans welcoming. If they are, then whatever you want, check to see what they have for policy, they might have one in place and it usually favors trans. But woman are more likely to freak on a penis than men on boobs, so if you want to stay away from confrontation, use the mens for now. But check that policy out, you probably aren't the first to go there. Check to see if they have a neutral lockeroom, it might not be obvious.

I used the women's but... like I've said a lot before, my chest is too big to pass as anything else lol.
A neutral one would be pretty nice.

Locker rooms terrify me.
In dance, i have a deal. They let me use a private staff bathroom.
I just flat out said i was trans and didnt use either locker room. Id be embarrased around the women and terrified around the men. And being bi around either sex is awkward.

That’s what I was mainly figuring. I mean I mind as well just use the men locker room less hassle like you said Ativan. I just kinda hope no one would try anything with me... but I mean I highly doubt a situation like that would happen. Hopefully not that Is...
I remember reading about that situation! It happened with planet fitness, and they told her to stop coming then bc planet fitness has a no jerks & judgement free Zone rule.
I kinda wish I didn’t even have to try and figure out which locker room to use. *sigh* I hope they have a neutral one that’d make everything else less awkward and anxious

So I went to the Y today. I just used the men locker room, but I did ask and they said they had a family one I could use. I gotta find that one. But I did ask about their policy with trans people and they’ll ask and give me a call when they know answer

I got a call from Y (ymca ) saying that they’re all inclusive and I can use whatevs one I want I feel comfortable in, and if anyone gives me issues I can say something to one staff. So that’s pretty awesome to find out!! I’ll probably try using the family one for now, or the men one, but if I ever become passable then maybe I’ll try girl’s? But that’s makes me so nervous and anxious I’ve never even used girl bathroom anywhere other than my job, but that’s bc bathroom at my job are both single use locking ones so I’m just like whatever who cares.
