Um...
Have you looked at the TV lately? Been to the movies? Walked around outside in the city? Seen a couple get married? Seen the abundance of heterosexual couples with their children? Seen the advertisements that flaunt heterosexuality and cisgender people as the norm?
Your heterosexuality is the norm, it has been for years, it is NOT under threat. Having marriage equality legalised won't affect you AT ALL!
(It especially angers me when married people are against marriage equality. Its like, you're already married, you've A) got nothing to worry about because your marriage is not under threat and B) you just exercised your right to marry, got married and you're seriously going to take away somebody else's right to marry?! If the shoe was on the other foot... )
Its biogtry like this that makes me realise people like that are holding society back from progressing further. Giving these close-minded fools the spotlight validates other fools into believing they are right and that marriage equality shouldn't be legalised because religion, because its unnatural, because I don't agree with it, because think of the children!!!
1. You can't use your religion as a justification for denying marriage equality.
2. Homosexuality is far from unnatural and is in fact, very natural because it occurs in the animal kingdom. Humans are said to be descendants of primates so why shouldn't homosexuality exist in humans? Is it because we are more intelligent (highly debatable) and are the only species with social standing? Fuck off with that!
3. You disagreeing with the person's right to marry is nonsensical. Disagreeing with a person's sexuality makes you an asshole. It's not something to disagree or agree on. A person's right to marry or their sexuality is not up for debate and does not require your consent nor adknowledgement to be valid
4. Oh gasp, God forbid a child learns about homosexuality, learns about a community of diverse people and possibly grow up to be open-minded, level-headed individual!
