I've started to have these moments of depression, usually towards the afternoon/evening hours, and I'm not even thinking about any depressing issues. It's just an underlying feeling of blah. Is this a side effect of the HRT? Transition and body dysphoria can definitely be depressing at times, but I think this feels more like a chemical thing, because I can't explain it. Of course, I'm so much happier now than I was before HRT, so the only thing that makes sense is that the estrogen dominance is poking and prodding at my feelers. I had my crying moments last week, and now it's just this steady blahness. It doesn't get in the way of me enjoying anything, though.

When and how are your hormones taken and which ones are you on? The other thing that springs to mind is blood sugar.

When and how are your hormones taken and which ones are you on? The other thing that springs to mind is blood sugar. Estradiol and Spironolactone. I take them in the morning and in the evening. I don't think it's a blood sugar issue. I know what hypoglycemia feels like, because I had attacks when I took Lexapro years ago. I don't eat a lot of sugar or carbs, either. I don't drink soda, and only put a small amount of sugar in my tea or coffee which I only drink 2 or 3 times a day. Like I said, the feeling isn't debilitating and doesn't interfere with anything. It's just kind of there in the background, and mostly noticeable when I'm just sitting here writing or playing in Photoshop. I'm pretty sure it's just hormones.

It could be that your body is starting to become dependant on them. This can happen with any medication when you have peaks and valleys. Maybe talk with your Endo and let them know how you feel before the next dose.

It might just be a thing that may pass eventually. It's not really normal to be up and perky 24/7 anyway, your entire endocrine system is getting adjusted to a complete hormonal flip-flop.

Yes dear the hormones have all kinds of side effects. So does transition itself, its a "heavy".
Shrink stuff and keep sharing it out.
And they affect us all kinds of ways, and all of us are different.
I lost my short term memory every time I had a dose change.
And my mood swings are well known here due to THC....

Hell I thought you were finally coming over to "THE DARK SIDE" But when it come to THC or Texas Hippie Coalition since one of their bigger influences was Dimebag Darrel from Pantera that was killed in cold blood on stage. You get the name and the connection with THC? Don't worry Shan I always have those "WTF moments". Without 'em life wouldn't be any fun at all.

I am blonde after all. But we aren't as dumb as most people think. The "W"s we found at the M and M factory didn't go into the trash like the old joke says.
