Its a heartbreaking time to be transgender and in the church.
We have made gains, but the fundamentalists - who's doctrines are often legalistic and controlling, completely missing the gospel of Christ in their zeaolousness to be obedient, who deny the Holy Spirit gifts being in operation in the hearts and minds of the lay Christians, those who are in systems that made a business of the church, when the business of the church is to reach out to those who suffer from the spiritual oppression of the demonic, - well, these fundamentalists are now redefining the church according to their will. According to man's will, and I do not believe according to Gods will.
So I offer this thread. I may be the only one on the board left, except Laura J, and maybe on another level Jamie the Gnostic, that identifies as a strong Christian. But my Christianity is based on the experiential, not on books. Its based on Christ living within me, greiving, supporting, loving, and driving me to reach out to transfolk wherever I am.
We must turn the church from hatred. We must turn the tide of fundamentalism, in any religion, that demonizes and hates those who are different from them.
I had a fantastic talk with a young transperson who was transitioning ftm, who is studying to be a Rabbi. It was fulfilling to me, it was like eating in a famine, to talk of the things I love.
No church can bar us from the love of Christ. No people can take their theology, and force it on others, to suppress a people. Ignorance will not triumph, evil will not either.
The enemy has strongholds in organized religion, he can do great damage there, and they are clearly his targets. Don't be a victim of these strongholds.
Claim your right to be a follower and a warrior of Christ. A warrior of the heart, love triumphing over hate. Do not let those who are of the pharasitical movement overcome those who are of the Holy Spirit. Sooner or later, those with eyes to see and ears to hear, will hear and see with their hearts, and realize that they are in error.
I have friends who are in the occult, I love them, they love me. We have different spirit sources, we are careful to not allow them to cross swords, as they would, and have. We cherish the heart, together, we cherish who we are, we celebrate our souls and our rights to be free. We don't attack either other, far from it, we help each other to survive another day. I was trained in the occult, in the psychic, and I follow my Jesus, He is everything to me.
Its when the wills are forced, and hate is spawned, and anger is raised, that the damage comes.
I have strong feelings about the cross, I believe it is absolutely necessary to be freed from the sin of the world, from the demonic forces that often prevail. I have seen the Lord, I know who He is, it was gifted to me to meet Him, on the other side. But I have very strong feelings about those who would use the church for their own gain, for political oppression, for harm to the helpless.
I have seen the eyes of Christ. It is not an experience a person can forget. Trust me when I say this, those who use religion to hurt others, do not want to see those eyes get angry. And they do get angry, and historically, it was always at the self righteous of the church, at those who hate, condemn, harm, using the power of religious law.
He is very real, you know, and active. And His church does wonderful things, make no mistake over this. Its just that some people, many people, have it wrong, and the principalities and powers of the political part of this nation has taken it, poluted it, and turned it into something that God never intended it to be.
And He has so much power, rest assured, He will do what is necessary to set us free.
Personally, I am spiritually weaker now more than ever before. It is because of the political things that have happened, that hate in the name of the loving Christ is being used as a weapon, and that the church's position on transgender is one of condemnation, leading to death. It breaks my heart.
And it breaks the heart of Jesus too.
The church casts us out, and then demonizes us and all who would have come to them, for living in ways that are so loose and wild. For prostituting ourselves when we are starving because we cannot get a job, due to the discrimination of others. For our drug and alcohol use when the pain is too much. They take no ownership that it is they themselves that cause this, that in their bigotry and error, in their inability to see the love of God and the heart of the Gospel, they are destroying a gentle and wounded people.
Oh foolish people, open your eyes and hear with your hearts. Listen to the tears of your transgender brothers and sisters, and of those who do not fit in the gender binary. You who would punish the weak, and wound those who are desperately trying to live, what kind of person are you, that you can do these things?
