Now that I have a chance to sit down!
Here's Chimney Rock:
The elevator was down, so everyone had to take the stairs. (Which is fine for us because hubby won't ride in an elevator, anyway.)
Someone said there were 600 stairs, total. I didn't count, but I do know my legs still hurt!!
We took a pic of the view near the top. (hubby was too scared to go all the way up onto the rock. )
Some of the 400 foot waterfall:
And some we took on the way back from the waterfall..
We didn't stay in Asheville, the hotels there are too expensive. They want $200 per night for the cheapest one! So we found a lodge in Flat Rock (about 30 mins from Asheville) for $100 and we booked it. We kind of expected it to be a regular hotel room. But no, it turned out to be more like a furnished apartment! We had a full kitchen, living room, bedroom, and two bathrooms... plus it overlooked the lake! We're going to keep that place in mind for any other time we visit up there, because it was pretty nice. I was kind of sad that we only got to spend one night there, so we didn't have time to make use of the fireplace or anything. But we considered this our super late honeymoon since we haven't had a chance to have one yet.
We tried a fancy vegan restaurant in Asheville when we got there, and their desserts were amazing!! After that, we came back to the hotel and went to bed for the night.
Saturday, we went out to eat in the morning and then drove around Asheville for a little bit, and it's so beautiful there. I've been saying for a while that I wanted to see it, and possibly wanted to move there one day. Well, I definitely want to move to the area now! After we finish school though, of course.
The mountains around Chimney Rock were beautiful, too.
It was exhausting, and I'm still sore from climbing all of those steps. (I'm way out of shape) But, for a short trip, it was one of the best mini vacations I've had.
And hopefully once we're done with our college stuff, we can move up to the area somewhere.
