I don't have body hair but I do use a loofah in the shower on my arms and legs because I have skin like an alligator with dry spots that need to come off. Also it's great for scrubbing off the goo from where I had the previous weeks patch located!

Ok. This is my hair removal experience. Dozens of laser treatments, first on my back, then on all my body (7 treatments and follow up), with a further 6 sessions booked for my fore arms and hands (palms are good????). Laser worked quite well on black hair but proved to be ineffective on blonde, grey or lightly coloured hair. Laser proved more effective once I started hrt. In total probably 30 hrs.
My first experience with electrolysis was uncomfortable, slow and frustrating - a couple of hrs of single probe blend. Then I amped it up with four full days of blend using two therapists and local anaesthetic injected under the skin, so 64 hours or thereabouts in total. This was quite brutal, the injections worse than the electro (I still have flashbacks. I refer to them as 'hooks' as that is what it felt like.). My skin wept and the skin formed crusts as it reacted to the treatment. Not pretty.
Finally I found and committed to multi probe galvanic electrolysis. Uncomfortable but effective, undoubtedly permanent, but expensive. As of next week I will have had 192 hours of treatment. Treatments were typically 3 hours and I tried every form of numbing cream or pain relief, bar injections (never again) I now have only the odd bristle, and a guest dark hair from time to time and fine vellus hair on my face, nothing on my back, upper arms, pits and minimal on my legs. I had hairy ears and a mono brow, not any longer????. Maintenance visits evey 4 weeks are now sufficient. If laser clears up my hands and forearms I will be pretty happy as I tried galvanic on my hands and it felt like individual IV drips were being inserted with the accompanying burning 'fire worm' into my skin.
I learned the importance of finding a skilled therapist and trying laser before galvanic. Find a therapist with a personality. You will be spending a lot of time together! However having a hair free body and not having to shave, seeing a smooth face in the mirror is a very good thing indeed. The discomfort and the financial stress are worth it. I found that I am hopeless at guessing how many hairs remain to be removed. I think my estimates were typically only 20 per cent of the actual. I became pretty good at follicle growth cycles and sleeping during treatment ie before they reached my upper and lower lips.
I wish you luck. The things we do.
Safe travels
Aisla

Third time with the epilator.
Remarkably similar to a lit cigarette.
But the burn is so much shorter lived.
Frequency suggestions? I have heard daily, every other day, once a week?
I hate hair. I dont want to feel stubble, and I feel that now, though there is no visible hair there.
Blessings

Did I mention I hate body hair...
I need advise.
Three times with epilator, last on high speed and that low almost flush head.
I have at least 20 or more infected hair spots, little red or whitehead leg bumps.
I used the epilator then put baby oil.
Before I used the loofa, which I call my shower flower thingy.
Did I do something wrong, maybe too frequent or two aggressive?
And by the way, yup, it burned every time.
Advice? Lot of bumps, infected here.

I don't use an epilator but after every electro session I use alcohol wipes until the inflammation goes away. The chance of infection is high if you don't keep your skin as clean as possible

Did I do something wrong, maybe too frequent or two aggressive? And by the way, yup, it burned every time. Advice? Lot of bumps, infected here. Give it time. Nope you didn't do anything wrong. Waxing and epilating kills me. That is why I stick with the shaving thing. When I tried waxing my legs, 3 times, I got an infection that I pulled a hair out that was at least an inch and a half long. Shaving you are cutting the hair even with the skin that is "squared" off. It will come out. When you epilate or wax then the hair starts new from a new stage and has a small tip to it and it may eventually not break through the skin and will just keep growing curling up until... Yuck. I still get bumps after shaving for 40 some odd years when new hairs start their cycle. But that lasts maybe a week or two. Then it goes away and I got smooth legs again. Baby oil? Use a really good hydrating lotion. Baby oil makes you smell like you are wearing a diaper, which ain't a bad thing if you and your lover are into that sort of thing. OK so one fetish that I don't care for. But if you do epilate make sure you use lotion everyday. A good lotion too.

Thank you for the help. The moisturizer dropped the bumps to around seven.
Many thanks, I hope your tips benefit others.

I always have had problems with waxing or epilating. Hell the pain ain't really nothing but when the hair starts growing back that is when I start getting ingrown hairs. I think ingrown and razor bumps are just a fact of life, especially the upper inner thighs and bikini area. They do make stuff to keep the bumps away but the best luck that I have ever had has been with Dove deodorant, the white kind or actually any kind of white deodorant especially that has cornstarch in it.
