Here's mine:
Shaving foam is heaven in a can. Such a close shave but it's not entirely smooth, if I run my hands with the grain, it feels smooth, against the grain, I feel the roughness.
No roughness! I must be baby skin smooth! *stomps feet impatiently and has a little tantrum*
Steer clear of epilators!
They are like a torture device...! Scary looking things, noisy when trying to grab your hair... ouch!
DIY Home Waxing isn't any better either.
Electrolysis is the only type of hair removal that is guaranteed to permanently stop growth, that's what the Internet told me It's expensive... but as someone said, it works out in the long term, saves having to buy copious amount of razors, shaving cream, ingrown hair creams, etc. Galvanic is supposed to be the most effective type of electrolysis.
Aisla, do tell about your electrolysis experiences? I'm sure it'd help others, especially me, teehee

I use gel and a men's four blade, against the grain. And shave hard areas like scrotum, back of thighs, twice, both directions. I hate body hair...

Yeah use a good conditioner under the shaving cream. I use a two blade razor. My skin is too sensitive and I have tried a 4 blade razor and it really irritated my skin. Everything men's of course. This I got from a Glamour Magazine. Take you bath or shower and wash and let the hot or warm water soften the hair. When you use the conditioner under the shaving cream it adds more lubrication. Then you can comfortably shave against the grain. In places like the inner thighs then across the growth of the hair. Not to mention shaving wipes away the natural moisture. The conditioner adds more moisture and then after use a good moisturizing lotion. If you shave in the same direction the hair is growing then it will feel smooth when you run your hand (usually down in most areas) but running your hand up you will feel stubble. And the skin definitely has to get used to it. Oh and lotion those legs about an hour before your bath or shower. It will soften the skin al ittle to where the little stubbly hairs will break through. But even most women I know use men's shaving supplies because the stuff they tend to market for women are not near the quality of the guy's stuff. I do have one of those wide Venus handles but use Gillette Sensor XL blades that fit it. When I bought the razor it seems the Venus blades that came with it wasn't quite a good as the Sensor blades. The gel is good but the foam with conditioner seems better to me.
Now for the dreaded Bikini area. :rolleyes:We all get those dreaded razor bumps. I mean the skin is softer and more sensitive there. Then there is a lot of friction when wearing jeans and even shorts. the tighter that the clothing is the more it will irritate. Same with the inner thighs. They do make stuff for the razor bumps but I found it has never really done much. The absolute best thing that I found to avoid razor bumps during the summer months when you got to get rid of the hair there is a good deodorant. Not the clear kind but the white kind with cornstarch. The cornstarch adds lubrication and the deodorant will keep the sweat down. This is the absolute best things that I have found that works.

I am considering laser on my back, I found an electric with a cool extension handle, but the actual razor doesn't seem to get anywhere near to a close shave, even on my chest or stomach, though it does at least trim my back hair in places I can't otherwise reach.
I have incredibly soft skin, which while I love how feminine it feels, knicks very easy, especially on the face, using any razor I've tried, and I think I've tried them all. Electric doesn't do that as much, but doesn't get nearly as close as I would like, I still feel like I have five o'clock shadow even 5 minutes after I shaved. Would electrolysis or laser have any noticeable effect on facial hair for someone that is not on HRT?

Get laser or IPL to clear what it can then polish off with electro. It really is the best option for the best skin with the smallest pricetag. Laser and IPL actually rejuvenate the skin, electro can scar it. Get a good electrolysist. Its worth it.
Or, do what I did... find the company that makes the IPL and laser machines and ask if they need anyone to act as a model when they are training technicians and get it for free.

Face is cool, body, no way.

I'm not Aisla, but here is my two cents. Electrolysis is ghastly, think thousands of hornet stings or fire ants, or whatever nasty equivalent you have in OZ. If I could use laser I would, the new techniques also remove hair permanently but my hair is too gray, or too blonde. I use an epilator every day on my legs because I can't stand stubble either and If you do your legs every day or two, there is no pain. It is only the first time in the forest that it really hurts. The recommendation is to get them waxed and then begin use. I just whined and cried and did the deed with the devil's tool. Sigh, but now everything is smooth and I am smiling. Fair Winds, Julie Any epilator tips? The pain level was ok but I only had a mm length and the shorter stiff is there. I hate that. Epilating boobs wasn't bad. The belly was no fun. The legs... Oh what we do to be hair free. I HATE BODY HAIR!!!!!! On me. On a stud, much better. Yuck.

I bought one awhile back. Used it once, lol. Did like 1/3 of a leg and said eff it! Too hairy still so gonna give it some time, maybe try again later on. Hurt like a mofo and gave me quite a few lovely looking bumps..shaving it is for me, for now.

For epilators, hot bath and exfoliate first to open the pores and clear old skin. Do it every week, its less painful as there are fewer hairs plus you stay more hair free. Always moisturise after preferably with aloe.

Two years on hrt probably helped.
What does exfoliate mean? Sounds like pulling up plants.
Epilating between my legs got kinda wild. And it's the first time it feels good in the unmentionable places.

You can get exfoliating gloves, scrub, loofah or sponge. It wipes the dead skin cells off the skin and lifts hair up to make for easier shaving/epilating. It supposedly promotes healthy looking skin, too?

The sponge looks pretty. The gloves look like I'm gonna garden myself.
Lol
Love this thread.
