Now, now. Let's play nice. Remember there are Log Cabin Republicans and a lot of republicans in the closet because of the ultra right wing extensions. Times have changed though. Do I think that anyone has the right to refuse service to anyone else regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or gender identification? No I don't. But if someone hates me so much for being trans then I would kind of like to know who those people are so I would not request their services and help them make a living. Especially when it comes to doctors, lawyers, food service workers and so on. I do not want to be under the care of a homophobe or transphobe doctor anyway. I do not want a homophobe or transphobe lawyer either. As for food service, that is self explanatory. The doctor can mess you up. The lawyer can throw the case and so on. So if anyone refuses services to me because I have an "m" on my DL and wearing makeup and nail polish and my cutest sundress with my best high wedges then screw them. I would rather not give them my business.
As for Gay Marriage. I am kind of against that myself.
The reason being is that I hate telling someone that I love , No. I also hate being put on the spot. So now we can marry and legally I am legally a guy and can marry a guy and I like guys so eventually it will come up. What excuse do I have now? I don't want to be married again anytime soon because then I felt trapped in the first one. So now what about common law marriage?
Is that something that will be recognized by two people living together for a certain amount of time and bound by the same laws as legal marriage? That is scary.
OK so let me clarify a little about the marriage deal. A lot of people get married for the wrong reasons and why the divorce rate is roughly 50 percent. It hurt during my divorce. It was painful, way more than telling her I was actually a woman instead of a man. I thought she would get all the little hints but she didn't and I had to spell it out for her. Then this person that I loved started all the name calling and then I had to be out to my lawyer, a judge, her family and so on. I got married for the wrong reasons and ending just got me called out.
Like I said earlier, I would sure like to know all the "phobes" that don't like me for who and what I am so I would be able to choose not to use their services or pay them for anything that I need or want. So that law in Indiana that seemingly made no sense would have made a lot of sense on denying patronage to haters. That would have effected their bottom line when it comes to business. Most people have someone they love in their families that are LGBT and are supporting us more and more and with that snowball rolling downhill gaining momentum, it would have been interesting to see the circumstances that came from the law.
We and our supporters could have actually used that law to our advantage. You hurt people at the bottom line and for most that is either money or business in order to make money. No matter how high and mighty they think they are or how moral they think they are, the lack of business always hurts them the worst. Even Chick Fillet and the owner's opinion of gay marriage does not keep them from hiring LGBTs or serving LGBTs and during the Pulse Nightclub massacre, they stepped up and provided food free of charge to family members, first responders, and LGBTs and their families waiting on word for their family members, friends or partners.
So maybe this law wasn't such a bad thing because we would know who to avoid to give our business to. Look at the repercussions in NC I think. When musicians cancelled concerts and businesses in other states refused to do business with the state, it hurts their economy. So maybe Pence signed this law for a reason.
Sometimes you do have to cut off your nose to spite your face. A lost of people get nose jobs.
As for Trump. I think all of his time in Hollywood and NYC, he is used to LGBTs and probably knows and has quite a few of us working for him because of the laws. Plus it is all business and who cares who is making you money as long as they are good at their jobs.
Politics is "slight of hand" and always has been. You have to kiss ass to certain people and hope like hell others understand and can use what they put in motion. I see that Indiana law as a means for us to deny our patronage to certain corporations and businesses instead of the other way around. But not just us but way bigger entities and corporations to deny business and sponsership to these haters. This is the main reason why I hate politics. A person has to kiss ass to their party supporters and sign or write laws for those people and hope like hell that it backfires because of how you really feel.
We tend to see politicains as black or white, left or right but most are more center and what they write or pass is to appease their party instead of how they really feel. Its kind of like being a child and your mom bugging the piss out of you to clean and straighten your room until you can't take the complaining anymore and then just shove the shit in the closet and close the door. No pun intended but a perfect analogy.
It keeps her from bitching and you still have an organized mess and can find the clothes you want.
I always dreaded the day when she found out I wore panties instead of tighty whities or boxers. She never did.
