I hopes this is the right place to make a thread about this.
I love reading more LGBTQIA based books, especially those by actual LGBTQIA writers, and not cis heteros as most tend to be... Grrrr....
But anyways, right now I just really wanna talk about my fav Trans author Elliott Deline! Omg his writing and voice is just really awesome! My fav book of his is Refuse, which is awesome because it's about a Trans guy who ends up having a crush on his college roommate who's also a Trans guy. It was a really good book because main character Dean, I could totally relate to, and plus he dealt with depression, and reading Refuse, is what got me to check out the band The Smiths, because Dean is a HUGE The Smiths and Morrissey fan, which led to me checking it out and also falling in love with The Smiths, as well!
But anyways, so I just finished reading Elliot's new book called No Poster Boy, which is a collection of essays that he's written, and it was superb! Plus, another reason I love Elliott is because he lives in Syracuse, NY, which is where I was born and raised so I just feel nostalgic for my hometown when I read his writings. But yeah, so I just ordered online another one of his books called Show Trans, and I'm eagerly waiting to get it in mail because I can't wait to dive into the book!
But anyways I definitely recommend reading Elliott's book Refuse, it was such a delightful and superb read. :3
But anyways, I love to have this thread open up as a suggestion thread for more Trans authors/books/ themes for us all to share and recommend to one another. Plus, I'm always eager to read more LGBTQIA books :3

Syracuse?????
Shoot. I did three seasons at Auburn Civic Theater/Merry Go Round and I grew up in Skaneateles out on the lake. They ate me alive out there.
And my first fiance lived in Syracuse, i hitchiked down from school at Potsdam every weekend with a toothbrush and a botgle of Riunite red wine in my pocket.
Syracuse?
Omg.
We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.

Haha well to be fair I spent my childhood in Syracuse, and it was mostly happy memories for me. Then we moved to Charlotte, NC when I was in 9th grade/ 14 years old. I don't know I hated moving away from all our family in Syracuse, and it just felt like happy memories. I always wonder what it'd be like if we never moved down south... Hmmm

Currently I'm reading Show Trans, by Elliott Deline. It's a nonfiction memoir by Elliott, and it's really good so far! I just really really love Elliott's writing!

I've read two pretty great books awhile back! One called Symptoms of being Human - Jeff Garvin, which is about a genderfluid teen who starts a blog about their gender and they deal with anxiety, and trying to come out to parents who are like a congressman! It was a pretty good read that I enjoyed! Although, sadly the author isn't trans, but at least is had a main character who is genderfluid! And it was definitely well written! Another book I've read is called "Queer theory, Gender theory" by Riki Wilchins, which was such a great, and mind opening read on gender, being queer, postmodernism, and discourse! It literally helped me to open my mind and understand gender so much more! Seriously though "queer theory, gender theory" was such a fascinating read, and it's written by a trans activist!

I just finished reading Amanda Lepore's, book Doll Parts, and omg it was really good!! She has lived such an interesting life! Plus all the photos of her are breath takingly stunning!! She also writes in a cute humorous way. There were also some sad parts, but in all I really enjoyed reading it and read through it sooo fast!! Like literally I was up until 2 3am reading it last few nights and falling asleep with kindle plopping me in face
