As I have already explained here in Forum Undergoing Name Change & Reformatting, I will be clarifying my points further to dispel any confusion or misunderstandings.
I thought my original intention was quite clear. Unfortunately, it wasn't clear enough.
Nobody is being excluded. Heck, I am non-binary AND trans. There is nothing to say that transgender people cannot reside here, even with the name change. You are our allies, after all.
The focus of the forum is simply being shifted from transgender to non-binary.
The fact of the matter is quite simple; Transgender people have plenty of support available online whereas non-binary people don't. This forum change will ensure they have support here.
Certain members are operating under the assumption that transgender (TG) and non-binary (NB) are two separate, different communities and that the difference should be highlighted.
Now this is where you have all gone so, so terribly wrong.
This enforced distinction between two communities is what's causing all this mayhem in the first place.
Need I remind you, those who have been here from the beginning, that among other issues, this distinction between two communities is what ultimately led to the birth of this forum in the first place?
All because the precious "Trans Folk" has been dropped, you feel you have been excluded or this forum no longer supports trans folk anymore.
You couldn't be more wrong.
Because according to Nonbinary.org's Non-Binary gender page, you will clearly see that the first gender identity that is listed under non-binary identities is...
*drumroll....!*
Transgender!
By identifying as transgender and yes, this includes binary transgender folks, your gender identities go beyond society’s ideas of gender because you are not cisgender in that you do not identify with your sex assigned at birth.
Okay, so what if you don't identify as Non-Binary? Well, that alone doesn't change the fact transgender fits under the Non-Binary umbrella, whether you like it or not.
Like I said before and I'll say it again,
So please, everyone who is splitting hairs over this situation, I kindly ask, please refrain from making that distinction between TS & NB because it's insulting to those who have a foot in each camp, who identify as NB trans (like myself, Trinity, Valerie and I have no doubt, there are others here who identify similar.)
TL;DR: Non-Binary is an umbrella term in which transgender is included. This forum is not excluding anyone. The shifted focus on NB shouldn't alienate transgender folks because non-binary support includes non-binary, transgender, trans NB and everyone else under the non-binary umbrella.
In the end, we are one community, we are all in the same boat and we have so many bigger issues to tackle!
Thank you for reading!
Kind regards,
Jacey
