Trans supermodel Andreja Pejic has landed her first fashion cover shoot after transitioning. Photographed by Pablo Zamora, she will grace the March 2016 cover of global fashion magazine Marie Claire’s Spanish edition wearing a crochet dress. The headline for her splash? Romper El Tabú – breaking the taboo, something Pejic has done ever since she was first discovered. Throghout her career, which really took off after she hit the 2011 Paris Fashion Week catwalk for Marc Jacobs’ menswear and both the women’s and menswear show Jean Paul Gaultier presented, Pejic has overturned the fashion industry’s norms. Apart from being a first for the model, the cover also marks another occasion of her turning the industry upside down. In 2014, Pejic’s coming out as trans made global headlines, increasing the model’s fame even further and turning her into a trailblazer of LGBTI representation in fashion. Since then, she has landed plenty of jobs on catwalks and in cosmetics campaigns around the world – and in 2015 became what is thought to be the first trans model to be featured in Vogue when the magazine dedicated her a long feature. www.gaystarnews.com/article/trans-model-andreja-pejic-lands-first-magazine-cover-after-transitioning/#gs.16=6icE
