Yesterday as I stood up after time spent here on ProBoards my lower back tweaked out in extreme pain. I've never had a back problem and I can't think of what has caused it, but I was unable to move in my sleep last night. It was so painful and today I'm in worse pain yet and barely able to move, it's even painful to cough. I have about 100 or so Oxycodone stashed away as I prefer not to take them and have saved them from a knee replacement as well as neck lift surgeries. I was compelled to take one today and am feeling very drugged right now and I hate that feeling. Meanwhile it doesn't do squat for the pain at all and I suspect that I'll become constipated as that's a side effect of opiate based pharmaceuticals. I told my wife no to worry as it is too difficult to even clean up my own arse, something she would be loathe to do for me anyway, one can hardly blame her.

How very bizarre! The same thing happened to me on the same day. I am taking morphine.

try 1000 mg acetaminophen in combination with 400 mg ibuprofen (or some other nsaid like voltaren, but i don't know how high doses are safe).
you can safely take up to 4000 mg acetaminophen in one day, and 1200 mg of ibuprofen as well. combining them often gives a better effect. though nsaids aren't necessarily good for people with ulcers.
i hope your back is getting better though.

I dug up some Oxycodone-Acetaminophen tablets and took them for two days, they did nothing for the pain and just put me into a mental fog so I quit those. Honestly, I could not be a drug addict as I can't stand that feeling. So I iced it down and it made the muscles bunch up even worse. I used a heating pad for awhile, but what's really making me better is that Laura is using a vibrator with a lot of pressure on the affected area about six times a day. Most of the pain is gone and I think I'm going to survive. I've never had any back pain before, and am not usually such a whiner about pain, but that was as if there ws a knife stuck in my back and the slightest move was killing me. Getting better each day now, thanks for the TLC there dear, I appreciate it.

well, an nsaid with the acetaminophene might work better than an opioid in some cases. if there's any sort of inflammation, ibuprofen will often help.
i've only once tried something that made my mind foggy. decided that stuff like that is not something i want to try again. i value the ability to think my own thoughts, particularly when parts of the thought processes start to go in an unnecessarily negative direction. how else am i going to analyse, and deal with stuff properly...

which also means i'm only able to enjoy alcohol if i was already enjoying myself before drinking it. but the point of it isn't to get drunk, but rather just relax my mind a little.
they say students who drink alcohol (in moderate amounts) often have lower stress levels than those who never drink.
the trick seems to be how and when funny stuff is used. and for what reasons.

Count me in on that thinking too. I used to overdo it, when the bottle was empty it was time to pop another cork. Waking up the next morning with a pounding head and queasy stomach and not remembering what happened the night before was a real downer. Learning moderation with alcohol is possible, I was able to finally just have one or two and put it away, but some folks are constitutionally unable to do that. I recently quit altogether as it was exacerbating my allergic rhinitis.
