NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- A controversial State Senate bill could cost lives.
SB 1556 would let therapists and counselors deny treatment based on their beliefs. The Tennessee Equality Project is speaking up against the bill saying it puts those in most-need in danger. Chris Sanders says "imagine being desperate, in need and someone says 'sorry, you're not compatible with my faith."
Senator Jack Johnson voices the other side of the debate, saying "there are some militant forces out there that want to target specifically faith based practicioners."
The bill would not affect school counselors or those employed by the state.
