Female puberty is one nasty bitch. Higher highs, but lower lows. Part of me says "bring it" while the other says "I hate my life and I want to die".
I have seven hours to decide if I want to go out with a friend tonight at some LGBT bar for karaoke. If I can pin down a moment of neutrality, I will eat some kratom and force myself out the door. I won't be doing any singing, though; just supporting my friend and maybe make a new one.
In the meantime, I need to make the best of this Adderall I took this morning, and attempt some writing.
But when I'm feeling down I can always rely on Anneke to make it all better. I hope I never meet her, because I will squeeze her eyeballs out. <3

Puberty sux no matter what. Female or male. Or try being somewhat mixed and matched. Wow A guy with boobs. A guy that had to have hairless legs, chest and underarms along with those freakin' boobs in order to keep from getting bacterial infections due to hyperhydrosis. BTW hair removal was suggested by a Dermitaologist. LOL during PE I got felt up more than any other girl my age because I was a "guy" and it was safer and easier for them to say, "Hey dude, let me see what boobs feel like, please." Instead of feeling up actual genetic girls. I did have a few fans though. But in the 10th grade I stopped taking PE. We could either do band, sports or PE and I was in a rock band so,,, we had to audition to the drunk band teacher ever 2 months. Actually got a grade on it. That was one helluva school though. Then it was makeup, skimpy clothes, big hair and sleaziness. OMG the other two years we brought the band teacher a little something extra so he would forget about the bottle in his desk drawer. We actually played t JR and SR prom because he had some kind of pull. So yeah puberty sucked really bad. But then it got better. I had to make it better. BTW I loathe karaoke but at an LGBT bar? Go for it. You never know, but it could be a good time if nothing else than to drink a few and laugh at all the people that can't sing. Internally though. God I hate Karaoke. But I love bars.

God I hate Karaoke. But I love bars. Oh, I really don't care for it, either. Very few people who go up there can actually sing. My friend, though, is taking voice lessons. When I ever get around to starting my music project I'll probably have her sing on it. I'm only going to the bar because a) she and I haven't hung out in a very long time, and b) I haven't been out to a bar for a very long time. It might be refreshing (despite the cringe fest). Maybe someone will buy me a drink or three as I am broke.

Karaoke, sing along with the radio, singing along with the radio in a car, singing along with the song in their ear buds or headphones. Just singing a song because they know the words... If it isn't right on the money, I can't take it. That American Idol? No, just NO. I can take my daughter, still my baby girl despite graduating this year. I gave her a Strat and an amp, keyboards and electronic drums (headphones). She's determined to make her new band work. I can listen because I love her. She's overcome being partially deaf, a speech impediment, and forced her way into the High School Choir. But anyone else, please don't do that around me. Just don't. I'm not very predictable sometimes, don't push your luck.
Arin, go be you. Have fun tonight!

Maybe someone will buy me a drink or three as I am broke. That's the spirit. There are only two kinds of drinks, expensive and good and free. Why Cringe though? LGBT bar? It's not like it's a redneck bar where you will stick out like a soar thumb where half want to kill you and the other half want to take you home. But in those places always make sure you have enough money to get a taxi because the person may wake up feeling totally different the next morning. Also make sure you have some personal protection like a tazer at least. There are a lot of weirdos out there but in an LGBT bar, they are more normal than anywhere else. At least they won't deny it. They may not be proud of it but they do know what they are getting into. Really the T stands for something, right? Well T woman or T man it don't matter. A person don't got to an LGBT bar without knowing who is the clientele is. Just have fun and enjoy and let your hair down for a while.

By "cringe fest" I mean the karaoke. I've been to gay bars before (where all you can see are horny men). They were definitely not my kind of place, but the drinks were good. My dad used to bar tend at a couple of them.
Well, it looks like I'm actually going. I feel like poo, and my anxiety is sky-rocketing, but I'm going to try to remedy that.

A gaybar where the guys are trans woman friendly is a good deal. A lesbian bar where the girls are ranswoman friendly is a good deal, But an LBGT bar how can you lose? Even with the Karaoke and bad singers. Just remember, nothing but a good time.

Our first stop was very much a mixed bag, but it was tiny, and a creepy old drunk guy was bothering us. Second stop was fancier. I requested a White Russian, and they gave me a village! Check it out: These places really weren't my thing as I prefer more laid back environments, but it was nice to hang out with my friend Alicia after a very long time. We've known each other since 6th grade. True sisters through thick and thin. Now I'm spending the night in their new house in Galveston, and it's occupied by some lovely French spirits. They like it when you play big band music. Switch over to anything modern and something in the house breaks. I don't blame them. The 20s were classy, and today's music can be pretty obnoxious in comparison. They didn't say so, but I think they have no heating in this house at the moment, and it's 53 degrees out. I hope these covers are warm.

karaoke is fun in the right setting. like when the japan club had karaoke nights at some student's place. classics, enka, even cute korean songs. and then tricking this cute guy from the go club into trying the gay bar song. you could see him wanting to sink into a hole in the ground and disappear after a while. being homophobic didn't work too well around the crazy guys in the japan club. i think they were all straight, but that wouldn't stop them from loving that song. and teasing that poor guy. they all sang to him when he finally stopped trying, "i've got something to put in you".
there was also sake and fugu sake and even some north korean spirits. and tasty japanese sweets.

It's when the pitch is off, it's like having one of the instruments tuned wrong. When I ran sound, I could hear if anything was out of tune, I even insisted that the drums be tuned before each night. Had a singer who was consistently off slightly and had to get a pitch bender effects that adjusted it. The effect box was worth more than the singer... Like a piano that has a key or more out of tune, a guitar that has one string out or the intonation is wrong. Picky, picky picky. It just hurts to hear it. But I have heard some amazing voices singing karaoke before. Took one one the road for a couple months, they did really well, but could't handle the lifestyle. Working in a studio making tapes for bands, you hear even the slightest variations. Stop and tune, stop and tune. There was only just so much you could do, old analog. Digital tapes were just coming into studios back then. Today's studios are all digital and pitch bending is simple. Have a DAW tucked away in my computer to play with. It's just fun to play with everything in it, overload of effects and such. One of these days I'll get around to actually putting something together.

This is one of the things I need to bring back. Something I misplaced.
Time to sing cats in the cradle again.
As a performing artist, I am always male.
There's a lot more prep work to redefining the retired person, it's an New instrument, needs tuning, reconditioning, lost the instruction sheet, but the training, that is never lost.
On the shelf for now. An unchosen pathway. One around those trees over there.

When I have the house to myself for hours, and I figure out a way to remove vocals from a song, I will attempt to sing something by my favorite vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen. She hits some really high notes in a lot of her slower songs, but this one I can manage without a problem:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2yjhO4_x5c
Decades of singing along with female singers has allowed me to comfortably sing in a mezzo-soprano range. I also have good pitch and vibrato. My problem is more of a diaphragm/range thing. I imagine a voice coach would probably advise me not to attempt an Anneke song without placing it in a lower key. Singing really isn't a huge passion of mine, but music is, and I can never find a female vocalist interested in what I want to do. They all seem to live in Scandinavia.
