A teen who admittedly took part in a hate crime attack on a transgender woman was given a slap-on-the-wrist punishment because he’s a youthful offender. Tyquan Eversley, 18, pleaded guilty for spewing anti-gay slurs and beating up Kimy Hartman before Mashawn Sonds allegedly bashed her skull with a 2-by-4 piece of Plexiglas on Oct. 12, 2014. “I don’t know how many breaks you’ve received, but this one may be your biggest break,” warned Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun. Eversley was sentenced to 16 months to four years in prison as a youthful offender over the prosecutor’s objections. www.nydailynews.com/new-york/nyc-crime/brooklyn-transgender-attacker-pleads-guilty-article-1.2469807

But at 18 and going to prison in the general population for 16 months to 4 years may actually see what it means to get fucked by the justice system. He may come out with a new appreciation for the LGBT community.
