Its a very strange piece to me, that one.
I honestly dont know what to think.
Haunting. Killing a part of self? We learn to love all of ourselves, in time.
Love the vocals. Pretty scary video.

Going out on a limb here.
Looked at from the point of view of internal gender, our relationship to ourselves, inside who we are, the following is interesting, though it is not a trans video, it could be viewed from the nonbinary perspective. I can see it in me....once upon a time...not so long ago.
I think it is the after of the last video, where that was the before...it is a mirror image in another light, another perspective, another way of seeing a differnent outcome, if both are seen allegorical, one fighting ourselves, one, embracing, healing.
The path is hard to see, each person has a different one.
See it this one strikes a nerve, evokes a response. It may, seen as ourselves....

I agree, the Goldfrapp video is haunting and the song has an eerie quality to it. I don't quite know what to make of the video either. I thought of that too, of her killing a part of herself, or burying it, not accepting... and then regretting that. I get your point with the Dani video. I love that one. Yes, it is another outcome, what a great thought! It so speaks to our journey. Amazing. I'll add that to my playlist, need more of those feelings. Thank you for sharing!

Anything that brings us into the minds of everyday normal so called people. But damn. Can't we get one heavy metal transgendered band at least?
I guess metal though or harder rock is a little different. Even Bon Scott crossdressed in an ACDC video. Can't really remember the song but In the song Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, "For a fee I'll be happy to be, your backdoor man." As a matter of fact if you look up the lyrics of that song on youtube, it kind of screams LGBT. I can't really for sure what they mean. I would be an idiot if I claimed to know what they were writing in their minds. All I know is what I read, lyrics wise and what I hear. The second verse you think he is telling a girl something but he uses the phrase "Fella'"

Time to kill the monster inside. I love the video. The monsters, yes, they are the ones that hurt, some of the ones inside, but we are not the monsters. Self hate is the monster. My first show, I was laughed off the stage. In high school. Stayed off the stage for the next four years. Because they thought I was a joke. Because a kid came up after the first show and laughed at me and pointed his finger and said "boy did you look stupid". Four years later I auditioned again in a unique set of events, and got cast. Seven years and a hundred shows after that, I made Broadway. The video hits hard. Dysphoria, yes, there are things we dislike about our bodies, things to fix. But inside ourselves, there is a lot that needs to be embraced and to heal, it takes courage, it takes owning all of us, good, bad, everything, realizing we are human, have feelings, have value, have needs. That we are esteemable for being ourselves, and daring to live a life walking the paths less followed. I am a freak. A drop dead beautiful passionate artistic freak that doesn't fit into the world. Yup, a freak. One that stands up to the monsters and shames them with a steady gaze into their eyes and forces them to drop their condemning gaze in shame, when they realize I am not ashamed, I dare to be me. One hell of a freak. Painful to watch, this was, very painful. And well worth it. I'm all fired up, its a familiar rage, but its turned into action, into words, into the desire to make a difference. That anger is no longer destructive, it has become constructive, a tool to control and use to help others as it moves to take action. Loved the vid. Thank you for it. Hope others like it too. Trinity

But seriously a youtube search of the songs with lyrics that I mention will take you right to them. Plus I don't want to waste bandwidth?????

Trinity Thank you for sharing, I agree with you fully. I think that throughout our lives people tell us who we are by the way they threat us and by the way they speak to us and it's so easy to take the negativity and make it our truth. It creates a negative voice in our head that we believe are our own, when in fact it's only the lies we've been told. We have to make that voice go away and listen to our true inner voice instead; the one who speaks of self-acceptance and self-worth.

I used to listen to this song a lot around the time I came out.
Look up to the sky sky sky Take back your own tonight You'll find more than you see It's time now now get ready So you can taste that sweet sweet cake and Feel the warm water in a lake (y'know) What about the nice cool breeze and Hear the buzzing of the bumble bees Live past those neighborhood lives and Go past that yard outside and Push thru their greatest fears and live past your memories tears You don't need to scratch inside just please Hold onto your pride So don't let them bring you down and Don't let them fuck you around Those are your arms that is your heart and No no they can't tear you apart

Thanks Ativan. I think this son is prolly more gay than trans but back in the 70's everyone knew gay. Tans was kind of misunderstood, moreso than it is today. I still think it's badass that he crosdressed in another video though.

in the late 60's and into the seventies, much of what we know to be trans was just seen as another way to be gay. gender was your sex and that's all there was to it. it was a difficult time to grow up in. i knew some trans people from back then, but even so, there was just a knowing, more than any discussion. discussion was a private thing, the words weren't really there to even talk about it. to be able to tell someone or have someone talk in terms of gender was instantly recognizable, but also a very private thing. being trans meant being taken advantage of, it was easier to go along with the gay crowd, trans wasn't a thing really. NB was totally a thing that just didn't exist, yet some of us found each other anyways. even a decade ago, it was something that just didn't exist, looked down on by the rest of the trans community, just like trans was as a whole in the late 60's. it was seen as a subset of gay, it revolved around sexuality, gender was still whatever your sex was.

May not belong here, but maybe it does. Love the imagery.
And this song is very close to me.
A song from me to those I love

Am I messing up this thread by posting these songs? Even though they are not by trans artists and about trans issues per say, they speak to the journey of self-acceptance. To me, this song is about hope and being in it together.
