Hi,
I have been away for a while. I think in the spring I noticed Shantel may have dropped membership. I have Shan's email address, sent her a message & it came back undeliverable, so looks like she shut that down. Like many of you here Shan is a wonderful person, miss her & wondering if anyone has been in contact with her or has a contact for her.
The reason I have been away, is that my wife who had been in good health, we got blind sided as in March we found out she had an aggressive form of cancer. Unfortunately treatment didn't do the job, sadly there is nothing the Doctors could do after June. she went downhill so fast & passed on Saturday July 25 about 5 months short of her 60th Birthday. I am missing the love of my life, confidant, best friend, adventurous, she cared about people, a Happy person, positive attitude that like to spread joy with people. An educated, intelligent bright mind & soul has been lost way too soon.
If anyone has info to get in touch with Shan would be much appreciated. We had talked about getting together some time when I visit my family in Vancouver, B.C. Thanks Jamie

Jamie,
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your wife, I am thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way.
When Shan posted her farewell message, she mentioned that she wanted to spend more time with her family as she isn't getting younger.
If she wants privacy to live the remaining years with her family, I think we should respect that.
She dropped out mid-conversation with Ativan as well so you aren't alone with communication between two close friends being suddenly cut off.
If she ever comes back or open lines of communication again, I'm sure you, Patti or Ativan will be the first to know.
Kind regards, Jacey

Jamie
So sorry to hear of your loss. The loss of your life partner must be devastating but thankfully it is not something that I have had the misfortune to suffer. My thoughts and best wishes are with you.
I reached out to Shan a number of times by private email but wasn't able to connect. Like Jacey I would love to see them back, they have given us so much and we are the poorer for their departure. But priorities and circumstance change and I will hold onto my memories of their warmth, generosity, humor, advice and support.
Safe travels
Aisla

Echelon, you changed your name, thanks for the update on Shan & I totally understand the reasons hat you have all mentioned. .
Thank you as well as Trinity & Aisla for your caring thoughts & prayers, much appreciated. Trinity I was raised in the Protestant church, although I haven't gone to church much since my mid twenties I have this sense of a power in the Universe & if we gave that the name God, I am fine with that so I tune with prayers, spirits, so thank you lovely souls.
Right now I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the reality that my soul mate isn't here. Twice about the time it would be for my wife to wake me up to take her to the commuter train station for her to go to work I heard her call my name & woke me up. So occasionally she is around in spirit I suppose. Would love to have a conversation with her on the other side.
I think it is going to take a while for me to go get dressed & go out with my sisters in the Toronto area.
I will see about keeping going here.
Take care. Hugs Jamie

Damn Jamie. I am in tears and so sorry for your loss. I hope you are doing OK? Yeah I miss Shan. I think Shan kept some of us here pretty grounded, especially me when I said something a little too out of place. I think Shan is everyone's Auntie just because Shan would slap you on the back of the hand if you messed up. No BS sweet way around it either. In your face and strong and fair. Not because of their age but their wisdom and life experience. I really hope Shan is well. She is well loved here and I am sure by everyone else Shan has ever met. I really wish Shan would come back, even if to reprimand me again.

JamieP - I'm always late. My condolences on the loss of your wife. She was a fine lady who understood - a rare commodity.
I too miss Auntie Shan. I think the death of her brother badly affected her.

Thank you Jamie & JDLR. Finally getting a chance to drop in here after doing a lot of business transitions that need to be done after a loved one passes.
Shan had told me about her brother, I didn't realize he had passed. That would explain going missing. I have a sister in Vancouver that I think is finally winning her battle of cancer, this is the second time in 10 years for her. Carolyn's sister-in-law has breast cancer back for the second time & her cousin for the first time. Looks like the Doctors found it early, so we are hoping for the best outcome.
Fortunately I have a lot of wonderful friends in my community, some from years ago & relatives across the country that are there for me. I have also gotten into a bereavement group at a house that runs programs for cancer patients & family. Carolyn & I are both positive people that enjoy life, I am sure she wouldn't want me to be sad, that has kicked me into gear & I am getting out with family & friends.
Blessing to all on your journey.
Jamie
