This is me. I too desire both sets of genitalia and have struggled with how to name the body I will one day have. It won't be male or female, but it's not fair to call it intersex either given the oppression the medical establishment perpetuates against intersex folks. I guess I could just say my sex is also nonbinary.

Unless people are saying intersex isn't a valid gender identity, should be fine. To Say otherwise would be disrespectful to people who are intersex and identify as intersex.

This is about existential identification and personal congruence not about what society, the medical establishment (generally), or anyone else thinks. There is nothing more personal than your body and not a lot more important than your integrity. Work with therapists who have discarded their expectations and grant yourself the licence to explore what authenticity looks like for who you know you are. You won't be shunned here, and you may just find a little joy along the way. Ming

Thats the thing. When you say it, I don't have the same reaction. When Echelon Hunt says it, I don't have the same reaction. I don't think "Thsoe poseurs/fetishists/confused people". I think, "Yup." Or "Holy cow, there's people like me!" and I feel freed. Or I don't think anything at all, because it strikes me as so normal. But when I think it, whew, I feel it right in the middle of my chest. It really is a mind fuck. While it all comes from the binary, not all of that fear comes from being shamed for it by traditional spaces, but worrying for others in those traditional spaces who've been hurt by the currently repressive nature of the binary and fear for contributing for it. But *deep breath*. I've taken the first step and said it out loud, so I can keep baby stepping my way into a new way of thinking. I do wish I had a good word for it. Perhaps I should just go simple and say I'm non-binary and I want to transition to a non-binary body type. Eventually. Slowly. Yes indeed, there is hope for you after all! I've watched your struggles with this on this and the other site and can only say welcome to the non-binary world! We have all been able to commiserate with you on several levels. We sometimes liken the process we go through to the metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly. The struggle out of the cocoon is a most frustrating part of transition, seems that you've emerged successfully through the cocoon's mental phase in determining what you are becoming, congratulations!

I'm curious what medical procedures could result in the possibility of having both male and female genitals. This is something that I've been pondering too. I've been having some thoughts recently that it would be nice to have a "pussy" (not the best word for it I know ) but I don't think I'd like to get rid of my penis/balls, at least not straight away. So I've been thinking it'd be nice to have both. But I thought that was medically impossible.

Personally if I ever did the op, I want full functionality, full feeling, full female. Personally. Which translate to penile inversion.
Some ops are done with colon to create the vagina. But the last (and only) surgery I heard of for this did not go well...to my great sorrow. She deserved better than that.

full functionality is important to me too. I'm a very sexual person. That does kind of require one or the other unfortunately.
But I can always dream of being a mutant superhuman with fully functioning male and female parts *sigh*

OK, say it was possible. Just curious, when you orgasm, is it with both at the same time, or can you have them separately? If they are separate, would you work to achieve simultaneous orgasms?

hmm... interesting. I've never thought about it that way.
I suppose the orgasms would be separate, depending on which organ is being stimulated. I suppose then a double orgasm would also be possible. Wow! What would that feel like?

It doesn't have to be a dream.
There is a FAAB member (Ze actually posted in this thread, ze is kdkorz10211) here who wanted to have phalloplasty but keep hir vagina intact. Ze thought it wasn't possible but it is, there have been people who had the surgery done. There may be possible complications with the urethra lengthening but with any surgery, there will always be risks and complications.
I did a bit of research into how having both genitalia for DMAB would go, I found an answer...!
Here is the answer I found, someone from another forum had this to say,
So the issue that would arise is that if you have an erection, it would block the vaginal canal. If you have no erection, you may be able to have vaginal intercourse. That would be kind of cool, to have an orgasm from your penis and then have another afterwards from vaginal penetration.
And if you want to go there, anal penetration Why have two places to experience orgasm from when you can have three?!
Don't forget, your most important sexual organ is the brain!

This conversation is hilarious! Well ok one can probably do this sort of thing but it might lead to a lot of internal confusion. I once read about a surgeon that transitioned to female, I saw her photo and she looked like she was approaching a perfect 10 on the great looking female scale, however what really set the militant MtF crowd's teeth on edge against her was that she had opted to keep her testicles, for what reason no one knows, they had been moved into her lower abdomen.

I have heard of someone doing that. They wanted to preserve their ability to have children, keeping those testicles internally so they aren't completely losing their ability to have biological children.
Someone in the phalloplasty group asked a similar thing, they wanted to have a hysto but keep the ovaries in so even after phalloplasty, they still have viable eggs/embyros should they desire biological children down the track. They're obviously not going to be using their own body to have children though.
I can't personally understand why they would do this because I have no desire to have biological children but from an outsider's perspective, having seen grown women and men cry over the prospect of not being able to have children, I can understand why people want to keep their options open.
Removing testicles and ovaries is a very final thing. Once they're gone, you're sterile for life.
