i didn't say you should cut out carbs completely. just check how many there are in carrots... one fruit a day is a serious lot too. what's important to look out for too is the amount of fat. low carb high fat doesn't seem like a very good idea, mostly because people think that they can eat the same amount of fat as the carbs they cut, while the real answer is only half the weight of fat compared to carbs...
i once looked at a weight loss program at some bodybuilding site. first calculate how much energy you need for your size and activity level, then subtract some for weight loss. after that, make sure to get 1g of protein for each pound of target body weight. after that, if you have too much fat on your body, take 20-30% of the energy intake from fat. and if there is any space left for more energy, take it from carbs. when i did the calculations for a person who doesn't work out much, i ended up with a very low carb diet.
carbs apparently should be added to the diet according to activity level. just staying awake only takes a very few of them. running around in the mountains all day will make a person want more.

I have all the answers when it comes to weight loss, muscle weight as opposed to fat weight in terms of volume. I know for certain that I can maintain a perfect weight and body mass ratio for my age and metabolic rate on just 1300 calories a day with a perfect balance of protein, carb and fat intake ratio per day. Sadly, I am a foodie and so I ignore all that until I hit critical mass and decide to apply myself to all that I know. It's part of the human condition.

Why indeed! The million dollar question!
That's excellent, Victor!
I'm noticing my stomach is looking less round than before, if that makes sense. I looked so bloated and uncomfortable before. Looking at the physical changes taking place is very satisfying, haven't weighed myself today but will do so tomorrow. I avoided having a small bowl of ice-cream for dessert, hooray for self-control!

I haven't weighed myself the past few days but I have been consistent with my exercise and noticing my body's shape changing, it is an odd sensation to look in my reflection... and not see a sad person staring back at me that I've been so used to seeing. My non-binary therapist noticed I was looking more slim in the face and that made my day. We also discussed my diet, that my everlasting love for potatoes and ice-cream have to be put aside if I wish to lose weight in time for July.
The other option was to wait and have surgery later but that is simply not an option. I cannot wait any longer, I have already put it off long enough as it is.
Today was first day I have cut out carbs and sugar. I intend to weigh myself in the morning. See you all then

See you all then Don't become disillusioned at the rate of weight loss because as you exercise you will replace fat mass with muscle mass which weighs more by volume as opposed to fat volume. So the waist, thigh and other measurements will tell the real story, ignore the scale altogether. Meanwhile a drop in sugar intake will make a huge difference. Anything white like potatoes, rice and bread are carbs that convert to sugar which is in turn stored as fat. You're doing the right thing Jacey, don't lose heart!

Hmm.. Used to hunt rattlesnakes. Under three feet, throw them back. The skins can be stretched, made belts and hatbands out of them. Sold the rattles, if they had good ones. Pretty good eating, not gamey at all.
If you look at old pics of muscle builders, like Arnold Hamandegger in his earlier days, they went for a tiny waist look back then. Simple trick to doing it is to simply hold in your stomach, like you want the front touching your spine kinda holding it in. Hold it for as long as you can, if you start to tire from it, stop. Try for as long as you can, work up to five minutes if you want. But do this several times a day, doing reps of 3-5, what ever works, and you will see a difference. Sit ups and all those six pack exercises do little good, unless you get crazy about them. You won't get six packs, but you will lose that bulge in the front and it helps with the sides as well. It's time for me to start getting back to doing that again, to much sitting around this winter. I'll lose inches within a month. Do them sitting standing laying down, any combination, just keep working at it, lengthening out the time and number of reps. Try it out for a few days, you should feel stiff from doing them, but it doesn't take long and that goes away.
