Hi Everyone!
I'm working on some new poems, some of which I might set to music. Here's the first one I've finished. I hope you find it meaningful.
JUDGEMENT
You set yourselves up
In your teeny courtrooms –
A Facebook page
A megaphone in the park
The pulpit in your “church”
You warp God into your own image –
Small-minded and hateful
Eager to deal out vengeance
In ignorance and arrogance
You pass judgement
Against anyone who is different from you
You carry out the sentence
You spit at the gay couple
You punch the transwoman
You kick your own queer children
Into homelessness and heartache
You preach about the sanctity of life
But your legacy is death
You ignore the murders
You celebrate the suicides
As if one less "tranny" or "fag" in the world
Makes for one more notch on your belt
What outcome do you expect from your persecution?
What will be the harvest from sowing all your hatred?
Do you think you can shame us into submission?
Do you think you can erase our identity?
We have survived the world’s spite and scorn
We have survived the shame we nursed in the dark
We have confronted our own blade
And we have emerged on the other side
We are strong
We are proud
And your judgement means nothing
Nothing to us
There is only one who is fit to judge
She sits in celestial judgement of everyone
Each of you puny pathetic judges
Will be confounded at last
As you face your own final judgement
