Hi Everyone,
I would really like to share my classical music style with all of you! I was chosen as the Kentucky composer of 2020 by the Kentucky Music Teachers' Association, and wrote a piece as part of this award. This is a performance film, that was just streamed yesterday as a world premiere! Now, I compete against one composer from each other state for a national prize!
And, yes, my name IRL (future deadname?) is Matthew Herman. How's that for a non-binary last name?
I really hope you enjoy my music. Little does Kentucky know that a transgender demiwoman is representing them in a national music contest!

Little does Kentucky know that a transgender demiwoman is representing them in a national music contest! It takes me to another place, Becky, and fills in the gaps in some ways too. Cool pieces, really brought me back to my own origins, made me a little jealous. I played clarinet professionally a few years, pit bands, loved doing it but I lost too much bone in my front teeth jaws, scared to pick them up, would have to have the teeth wired together or bonded to play again. The other part of your life there, the main part, love it. Some day when my life stops being constant work, I so look forward to doing meaningful work with you. Keep it up, and keep it going. You took my mind to another place tonight and it refreshed me.

To me, it seemed like each instrument had its own personality, and was talking to the other ones, and the piano in some ways was talking to itself, even having a bit of an argument, distinct voices yet unified.
That may sound weird, but its what I hear, very cool.

Hi Becky, this is a really wonderful piece! I found this place on a whim and happened across your post, and it was incredibly moving. I'm a grad music student who's been looking for nonbinary composers to play from for as long as I've been out. The search has been...pretty disheartening! But it's a joy to know you and your music is out there. If you have something or ever plan on writing for bass trombone, let me know! I'd gladly perform/record it
