Hello,
My Name is Jeff, but in certain circles I go by Abby Normal, or just Abby. I've been struggling with gender identification for years. I went to music school. For a long time I felt I had to devote my time to music I identified as masculine, or music I identified as feminine at different times. Feminist Singer-songwriter music being the music I identified more with femininity, and metal instrumental and progressive rock being the music I identified more as masculine. Point being I never really felt comfortable going all in one way, or all in the other way. I also really didn't get along with a lot of guys growing up who were supposed to be my peers (which don't get me wrong I do have some very good male friends), but most of my loser friends are female, and I have found that I identify more with them, and a lot of what they have been through. (Speaking specifically about my friends, and not about women in general). For example the way we talked about traumas from the past (which I won't get into too much here), and just ways of relating to one another. This, originally, however, made me feel alienated about the aspects of my life I considered more masculine.
More recently, I joined a Trans/Non-binary/Ally chorus. The director is very nice and accepting. He even coached me to sing better in more traditionally female registers. I feel very accepted there. Every time there is a new person everyone goes around saying their name and pronouns. Before too long I was comfortable calling myself a "They". I'm now much more comfortable expressing masculine, and feminine parts of myself more in certain circles.
Any way just wanted to introduce myself
Jeff/Abby

It's been a long road on getting to know myself. Outside of my chorus, and a select few other people, I can't really share that part of my life with many people. Also I have some social anxiety, and ptsd. Some of the reasons I sought out a forum where I could talk about being non-binary. So I'm so glad this site exists, I'm looking forward to more interaction on this site.
