I dont know, perhaps this isn't a big deal to many - but maybe it is to some? I went shopping for clothes yesterday.
First time since leaving the anonymity of London where I could pick a locality I'd never ordinarily go to and surreptitiously duck into a cavernous store.
I did have to go to our nearest city (not-very-big town, really) to do it though, so that helped.
That's not really the step I'm talking about though. In a way, this was the first time I'd gone shopping for clothes. Previously I'd gone shopping for women's clothes. Or men's clothes. I had, without really noticing it, dropped the qualifier. These were just clothes for me, which just so happens are ordinarily worn by women.
As always, though, it was with a mix of pleasure and awkwardness I was there. How do other people feel when shopping? Just a simple, everyday nothing? Or a bit of a(n or)deal?
I confess it is still a bit of a deal to me, but that's why I thought I'd share!

Shopping isn't a big deal to me now, but was when I first started doing it. The awkwardness kind of comes back if I don't do it for awhile, or sometimes when do it at a busy store where I have to wait in a long line where people have a lot of time to stare at me.

Shopping for myself is always fun, but then it really isn't too odd to see a female in the men's department. What's always more awkward is shopping for someone else, trying it on wouldn't work at all.

I really don't care any more that much about even pretending that it's a gift even if I'm presenting more masculine. Been trying to stock up on cheap women's shoes that fit from Payless Shoe Source(a chain that is going out of business in the US), shoes are like the one thing people try on in front of people. Since there's no returns, I'm definitely trying them on. Got a few stares, but found a few pairs I liked so far and I'm not letting some stares stop me.
