Hi has anyone had top surgery I'm just wondering what it is like to have a flat chest do you have more freedom I have to wear support for ex ample like running or jogging because it begins to pain without if you have a flat chest do you still need support ? Or is it painfree? Wearing support is just so annoying

Hi Jay.
I've had top surgery. Having a flat chest is amazing because having breasts just made me feel out of place in my body. They got in the way of everything. After surgery, my clothes fit better, I'm more comfortable and no longer have to worry about binding or worrying if my t-shirt is going to make my bound chest look obvious. (Binding especially in summer was torture)
I used to feel physically nauseous whenever I was in the car and my parents would drive over those speed bumps fast and I'd feel them jerk up and down. It made me feel violently ill. It's pleasant to not feel that awful feeling anymore.
Yes, there's definitely more freedom.
I don't wear support. Running/jogging is fine, there's no pain. Honestly, I don't even think about my chest at all when I'm running/jogging, it's the furtherest thing from my mind.
The only time I wear any kind of "support" is when I wear bras while I'm doing selfie photoshoots where I like to be all feminine and genderfuck. But that's more for aesthetic reasons than support reasons.

People and society place emphasis on breasts because it is more or less a symbol of womanhood, femininity, biological function (breastfeeding for babies) and commonly sexualised for heterosexual men to go weak at the knees. It's a load of BS. Don't listen to these people. It's your body, your life. You are allowed to do whatever you want in order to be comfortable and alleviate dysphoria. Society's rules be damned. I once had a straight guy I was dating beg me not to have top surgery because he's attracted to breasts and if I didn't have breasts anymore, he'd no longer be attracted to me. It was shitty of him to devalue me as a person to just my breasts. I'm not a sexual object that was created solely for his sexual gratification. His attraction to me DOES NOT get to take higher priority over my comfort within my body. I stopped seeing him immediately after that. Seeing not just any therapist, but a gender therapist really will help you make sure if this is what you want.
