i am not trans but i want to feel free to use the bathroom of my choice and now in some states it is taken away again. luckily not in my state but i still feel that it is unnssceary to take it away. yes some people have the concern that older men would enter young women bathrooms, so to compromise why not do they easiest thing and MAKE ANOTHER BATHROOM i mean cmon president your hear to do the best for all people so why not please add another bathroom.

If there was another bathroom, what would it be called?
The problem with creating another bathroom is that for binary transgender folks, they do not wish for another bathroom (e.g. a transgender bathroom) because it becomes like segregation (where they made seperate everything for black and white people, e.g. buses, toilets, even drinking fountains.) and they just want to use the bathroom that is reflective of their gender identity and presentation. The majority of binary transfolk, their gender identity correlates with their gender expression (e.g. transwoman having a feminine gender expression, transman having a masculine gender expression)
Creating a non-binary bathroom? I don't know. I think if that were to happen, it may unnecessarily out non-binary people who don't wish to be outed at risk. They probably would become easy targets for violent bigots. Many non-binary people use their presentation as an indicator of which bathroom they go into, if they are presenting masculine, they use mens room, if they are presenting feminine, they use womens room, if they are androgynous, maybe flip a coin or go into the one you feel most comfortable going into.
I would rather see women and mens toilets abolished and instead, a set of single stalls that have Unisex sign on them or just "toilet". This erases the problematic fear people have of transwomen, or what they think is "a man in a dress preying on women", it erases the anxiety people may have with entering mens/womens restroom (I have severe anxiety since I haven't had bottom surgery yet) and it is private, safe.
Just recently, I noticed some Target stores (not sure if all) abolished male and female sides of dressing rooms entirely and instead, made them all unisex. It's about damn time, it was annoying that the mens side only had 4 stalls and the womens side had 20.

It's about damn time, it was annoying that the mens side only had 4 stalls and the womens side had 20. well I totally agree with you. in the way of the people (like trump) it might be easier for him (he would more likely agree) to another bathroom. and it could say "bathroom". But like you said with one bathroom I total agree. For me its hard to go into the bathroom picked out for me at birth. but if I went in the other one id get teased and sunned, kicked out of the bathroom and rumored forever. in England however most(some) bathrooms just say "bathroom" luckily ill be moving there soon and I hope to see that bathroom instead of the occasional "family bathroom". Also I love what target is doing it seemed sexist and stereotypical of them to add less to men more to women, plus I always though "why not together" because its not like you go out of the room and strut around nacked plus (for childrens sake if people are concerned) there would be parent(s) present either with them or outside the room.i reallhy appreciate having you take the time to reply to me. Also for someone to have/share some of the same opinions and introduce more/better ones means the world!

The people that went after us are beginning to look like ugly bullies.it will bite them hard in the next election. Im in a good state too.

I am in a good state although there isn't much non-gendered {family bathrooms} I still try my hardest to stay myself and not try to let the words of others affect me and yes they are looking like ugly bullies and will(NOT) be elected again also at my parents office there is a fem and men bathroom and one time I went there and used both (it was my first time doing that) and it shouldn'tve been scary but you are taught at a young age who you are supposed to be I love how more and more people are breaking free of this age-old bondage and expressing it in such a way many people know about it thank you so much for replying it really helps all the talking and working through everything with people like me

I have changed my view on the whole bathroom issue.
I will no longer waste time trying to explain to people why trans folks should have the right to use what bathroom they identify with, because I dont belive any longer that is the isuue, or that cis people and politicians are who we should be fighting.?
Public bathrooms need to change, multiple 1 person toilet/sinks with full doors neec to replace the 50+ year old archaic stall designs, and this idea that men must line up side by side 6 inches from each other and all pee in a trough is an absurd idea that needs to go once and for all.! I dont get it, we put men on the moon 40 years ago, we have cars now that drive themselves, and can see and talk to anyone in the whole world live with a phone, but nobody can make a public restroom private enough so anyone can use it and not bother anyone else.? Bullcrap.!
I just think it makes more sense to solve the bathroom problem for everyone all at once, so trans people and cis people have equal privacy and everyone feels comfortable and safe.. The fight isnt with cispeople, its with stores, schools, businesses and bathroom designers.. thats just what i think...

When festivals happen in makeshift locations, they usually have this set up... Other places not so much yet, really I think most of the effort should be more spent on new buildings than retro-fitting old ones. Building like this to begin with doesn't really cost more money, changing existing buildings does cost money, so will face opposition on that front alone.

The question I have is this,
Aren't there many many other places where bathrooms are unisex? Why has this become such an issue here in the US?
Not sure what else to say but we here in the US are really behind the times of much of the world. So many issues we have here could be solved by sidelining all this us vs them mentality of everything. Money, health, gender, sex, etc.... It seems that many other countries have these things figured out. Not all of them and not all countries, but there are enough examples that we should be able to learn from.
SMH
