Yup... it's getting to me.
My hair has already receded back to a masculine pattern (M shape), the area in the middle of the M is starting to thin ever so slightly. It's become noticeable since I've shaved my head.
I want to avoid this. In Australia, we have a product that is just like Rogaine, it's just called Regaine instead, it's a foam you rub into the effected areas twice a day or there's a shampoo I think.
Is there anything else I could take to reduce hair loss? Is it Finasteride? There's a transguy I know who is taking medication to reduce hair loss and it slows down his body hair/facial hair growth as well... I think it's a DHT blocker.
I need ALL THE HAIR LOSS TREATMENTS lol.

Google dermaroller. Avoid finesteride it causes permanent brain damage linked to anxiety and depression. And i was on the darned stuff three years so im screwed. Yeah rogaine works good.
So does progesterelle but i doubt you want progesterone in your body. Its making my boobs look nice.

I may try rogaine. As for progesterone, I'll be okay re. boob growth. Since I've had top surgery, they removed all the breast tissue so I won't have to worry about regrowth on progesterone or estrogen. But if progesterone produces premenstrual syndrome, I won't be OK lol.

The supplement Saw Palmetto is known to reduce conversion of T to DHT. Most bottles I have seen say it is not intended for use by women, though from what I've read that is just because it may cause birth defects in pregnant women. Not that you are a woman, but the reason why may or may not be important for DFAB.
There are several anti-dandruff shampoos that supposedly reduce DHT at the scalp level. Nizoral is one of them, I've been using it for awhile, as directed, which is twice a week, though it dries my hair out quite a bit and is really expensive compared to normal shampoo.
I've been using both of these for awhile, though it's hard to tell how much, if any, they work. Hair loss has not accelerated, though breakage has from it being longer, and possibly the dryness from the Nizoral.

I saw my endo today to pick up my letter for my gender marker change. I decided since I was there anyway, I thought I would enquire about hair loss/thinning treatments.
I asked him about that, he offered a script for finesteride and suggested buying regaine from the chemist, using both together as a treatment option. He wrote me a script for finesteride, he said I can't take a regular dose as it would likely interfere with my low dose T levels, the tablet is 5mg, he said I can take a quarter (1.25mg) of 1 tablet everyday. He recommended taking finesteride and doing a rogaine treatment together in order for it to be extra effective.
I already have depression and anxiety so it's not like anything can get worse than it already is on that front. I believe I've already suffered permanent damage to my brain from that time I had multiple seizures from the toxic combo of alcohol poisoning and anti-depressants. 0/10 Would not recommend.
I doubt he would have written me a script for progesterone (sadly) as he'd probably consider a "female" hormone, like estrogen and only for ciswomen or transwomen, even though both hormones exist in cismen as well just in lower quantities.

Progesterelle is over the counter, through Amazon. Low dose, half dropper to the scalp, and the finesteride would not be necessary. Powerful anti dht. Its absorbed through the skin as well.
Worth a try. 40 bucks US a vial, vial lasts me a month easy.
It works, I have more hair.
Beware finesteride, though it could be helpful as a blocker anyway. Research it honey.

Progesterelle looks really good, thank you Trinity, it ships to my area too! Will do more research tomorrow on it as it's fiddly to check shipping prices on mobile. I wanna buy two bottles of that stuff! Maybe the Hair Fairy will be kind to me (a play on Tooth Fairy)

That's the good stuff. That's what I use, a half dropper of it at night on the scalp where it is thinning out once a night. Its a powerful DHT blocker, the most powerful actually, but nobody knows about it because men are not about to take progesterone.... unless they are mtf amab lol.
My hair is growing in better than ever on a mix of rogaine with progesterelle. The progesterelle has tremendously helped. I used to have a lot of hair loss on top.
To say that is satisfying for an mtf bodied nonbinary androgyne is a huge understatement.

Be aware one you start rogaine you cant stop. Also, you shed the first 6 weeks, then after 3 to 6 months it grows back fuller. Most people panic and stop during the shedding phase.
