Spironolactone is an mtf testosterone suppressor that atrophies the testicals. It has some nasty side effects in the pituitary by forming a great deal of noncancerous tumors in it. While this is not a serious thing, it still is not a helpful thing either. Irrelevant to afab but the question was about the pituitary so i put it out there. Not helpful to you but important to amab that read your thread. Are you ok? Are you having trouble with yours? I have not heard of afab having this in relation to trans hrt.

thanks a lot, I also wanted to know it for trans women that I know, cause I have never heard that it can have any effects on that. I don't know, it was never checked, but I wondered if it has something to do with the problem that testo is not really working (still dosing up, much higher than the everage trans guy) and of course that this would be a good enough reason to avoid estrogenblockers, because they could have the same effect.

The spiro issie is well documented and scientifically proven. If a transwoman eclusively takes high dose estrogen (as i do) then there is no need for the t blockers. Medicine has not caught up to that fact yet. They are 20 years behind on hrt use for transwomen. Spiro also causes fat deposits in tha abdomen that ruin your figure and does not diet or excercize off. The other blocker, finesteride, causes permanent brain damage linked to depression and anxiety. Unfortunately for me, i found that out too late.

I have heard that testoblockers are having severe sideeffects, but my friend started some anyway, I don't know which ones though. My docotr recommended additional hormones, I guess for now I will stay with dosing up the t, at some point it must be enough, I am not very keen on taking more than this

Source: Sciencedaily.com: Hormone therapy in transgender adults safe, study showsBut yes, there is little research done on the pituitary gland. Another article I found, says hormone-blockers paralyse the pituitary gland in young people and once they go off the blockers, they simply resume where they left off and continue into puberty. It is like that with HRT. If you go off T, you won't lose all of the effects, they are either slowed down or stopped. And when you resume T, you simply continue where you left off last time. If your estrogen levels are spiking and interfering with the T levels, this is not uncommon. There are cases where if you have too high levels of T, they convert to estrogen. In other cases, like mine, where my T levels were in the "normal" cis-male range, the estrogen kept spiking to high levels anyway. The option to stop this to ensure a stable dose of T? A hysterectomy. I was having increasing amount of ovary cramps that were once an annoyance, were getting very painful so it needed to happen sooner than later anyway. I also felt extreme heaviness in my lower abdomen and I feared it was my uterus that was bloated but the surgeon said my uterus was of normal nature... so it must have been my dysphoria that made me hypersensitive to the foreign organs within my body. It has been argued that transgender people should not be aiming to have "normal" cis-people levels as they do not have cis-people bodies. They should have their HRT tailored to their comfort and their needs. There needs to be more research done, I agree. It would be interesting to see the results.

mmh, so I had the "normal range" of t and e in my system over and over again (like in your case I assume). At the start I found taht funny, but 3 years in it really sucks. And surgery is not an option, I really really dont want surgery : (

There are a million ways to be trans, and we tailor our HRT to those needs.
You will find your way, Cypres, keep digging, reaching out, going through the process. You may pioneer something, find the hidden groups that know things. I am on an MTF expert hormone forum, there has to be something out there for you too. If not, we need to start a subforum in here, invite a few folks we know that are expert, and hear what they have to say.

Thanks : ) I guess you are right I should just see what more options are out there and keep trying. Maybe I will try to do shots again but under the skin not into the muscle, for some people that works. Even though I tock the ecourage to learn it, at some point I just couldn't stick that needle into my leg every two weeks, my axiety did not dicline at all whith this procedure ...

Even though I tock the ecourage to learn it, at some point I just couldn't stick that needle into my leg every two weeks, my axiety did not dicline at all whith this procedure ... HRT injections are supposed to be in the butt, if its in the legs, it can spike and crash, the release rate in the leg muscles is not as consistant as in the gluteus muscles. It also is easier to accidentally mainline it, hitting a vein, that has happened to me a number of times. There is much greater level control in the butt shots. Alto the needle size should be a 25 or 27 guage to minimize the pain, using a draw needle that is different from the injection needle. Many people use at 22.5 guage and that is more painful than the 25. After a while, it becomes possible to get past the injection difficulty. Personally I have not tried subcutaneous. I have heard some good things about it though. Its a matter of personal preference Yeah it takes some balls to stick the needle in, but you get used to it over time, its kind of a head game. At some point I just realized it wasn't helping me to agonize over the shot, and just stick it in there instead, quickly, which is a lot less painful. And butt shots do not hurt as much as in the leg, just based on it being your butt. Make sure you are completely relaxed when you hit the muscle. If the muscle is not relaxed, it makes it harder.

Join this it is the brother to an expert mtf hormone forum. FTMs: if you are looking for the FTM group, it is at the link below. It is branching off from the MTF group, so it is still new and needs participation. Please ask questions, give experiences, and invite friends. I know hundreds of you have come to the MTF group looking for information, but found little. So, it's time to fix that. www.facebook.com/groups/1251527378238666/?ref=bookmarks
