The World Health Organisation (WHO) is moving to declassify transgender identity as a mental disorder The World Health Organisation (WHO) is moving to declassify transgender identity as a mental disorder, as it updates its category of mental illnesses for the first time in decades.
The body, which is the public health agency of the United Nations (UN), is considering making the change in a revised categorization of mental and behavioral disorders to be released in 2018.
News of the change comes just as a new study published in The Lancet Psychiatry this week advocates that transgender identity should not be diagnosed as a mental disorder.

Should have been done sooner, but then it will take another decade or two to stomp out the folks who continue to hold the "Transgender is a mental illness!" mindset.
Heck, there are still people out there who believe homosexuality is a mental illness.

Who the hell is WHO? Yeah sarcasm I know but who the hell gave the UN the ability to classify us? I never asked the United Nations to fucking define me.  Is everything political now? This entity or that entity can sanction who we truly are? If so then this is a sad world we have become. This never should have been defined as anything other than a person being human just like the rest of the community. Well maybe they are right in a way. I am a little insane but not because I'm Trans though.  I'm just crazy. |
