I thought it was a hoot. Poignant, funny, kinda truthful, brilliant acting. Cutting on the drugs and prostitution side.
Thoughts on this movie, other ones? Faves?

May I suggest Hit&Miss? Same issue as with Transamerica, when cisgender actress plays transwoman, but otherwise, there were a lot of issues I could relate to (too bad that British TV discontinued the series after the first season).

Something I'd rather pass up as I live it and don't want to see it on TV portrayed by cis people as either informational or as entertainment because they don't get it and never will.

I usually avoid any TV or movies based on trans people. Mostly 'cause I have the attitude of, "I already have to live this 24/7, and it's so depressing and frustrating. Why would I want to watch other people go through it, too?" I prefer my entertainment to be more of an escape from reality, not a reminder of it.

I watched a movie called Sucker Punch yesterday and that was pretty wild.

I avoid watching movies about trans people unless it has a plot outside of the trans thing that draws me. I haven't watched Transamerica and really don't intend to, I see it show up on the guide every great now and then and just go past it.

There's an Australian made movie called 52 Tuesdays, it's about a mother who is transitioning to male, how her daughter deals with it as well as the divorce. It has her daughter ending up exploring her sexuality on the side... I'm intrigued but I missed out on the screenings for it.
