well, obviously. facebook also manipulates our news feed to show what their algorithms think we'll be most interested in. and they've even done social experiments on users, without their knowledge, by manipulating their news feed in a positive or negative direction in order to see how that affects what the users choose to share of their own.
turns out those who get only the negative from others will start getting negative themselves. a truth that some people have known for a long time, but it's interesting to see that it holds so extremely true.
facebook could also be used this way to manipulate political opinion and all kinds of things, and most people have no immunity to it.

Seems that it has had a negative effect overall as some would see it akin to some of what is written in George Orwell's book "1984." The Wall Street Journal’s Daniel Henninger explained recently, a very large group of Americans is frustrated – or enraged – by the intellectual and social terror exercised upon them by the commissars of political correctness.
