Transmisogyny 101: What It Is and What Can We Do About It
"Transmisogyny is a word that many people don't know about or understand. In short, it is the confluence of transphobia and misogyny – the negative attitudes, expressed through cultural hate, individual and state violence, and discrimination directed toward trans women and trans and gender non-conforming people on the feminine end of the gender spectrum. In this article, the author breaks it down even more and illuminates the various ways in which society upholds this force of oppression."Click To Read More>>

This article mentions the notion that transwomen are mocked because we give up our masculinity to embrace femininity, which is regarded as inferior. I think this could be one reason we're denigrated, but I think it's simplistic to think it's the only or even the main one. There could be lots of reasons--and in fact this article mentions another one: the notion that we're trying to attract and "entrap" men. A man is attracted to women, and if he sees "a man pretending to be a woman" he's horrified at the notion, as mistaken as it is, that we're trying to attract him.
There's also the possibility that men hate us, not specifically because we're embracing feminine values, but simply because we're giving up masculine ones. E.g., a man's supposed to be strong, a protector of women and children. That's a role we're giving up. Therefore, we're to be despised as not being men. Which is a bit idiotic. It's hard to see why someone who's not a man should be criticized for not being a man.
I think we should be cautious about assuming that we can know what people are thinking--especially because a lot of transphobes aren't thinking at all. They're merely blindly lashing out at something they don't understand and don't like. There's no actual thought involved.

Who in their right mind in a paternalistic society would want to be female? When all the benefits seem to go to males. I can understand our brothers wanting to be masculine and craving to be. But why would a male want to be female in a male based and centered society? I can't explain it other than it is who I truly am. I can't even fake being male. I tried and was called gay. Don't let 'em fool you Foxglove. There are a lot of guys that do like us. A lot that don't but I tend to think they have a thing for us that they hate about themselves. Their "little secret".
