Hi, Everybody!
A couple of days ago I had a form to fill in. After I wrote in my name, I saw that they were asking me for my sex--and they only gave me two choices. (Can anybody guess what they were?)
I was tempted, as I am sometimes with forms, to write in "Transgender Female". My thinking is that the more people see stuff like "transgender", "non-binary", "genderfluid", etc., the quicker they'll get used to it. Of course, I don't mind being considered female--and as usual with this form a couple of days ago, I decided to go ahead and put down "F". It's just that sometimes, depending on my mood, I rebel a bit against the tired old M/F option.
I was wondering: does anybody here ever write in a third option in situations like this?

I have checked female on some forms and then put TS by the little checkbox. Don't know if anyone paid attention to it or not.
Just like my license, it still has M on it, but anytime anyone needs to look at it, no mention of it is ever made. I think they mostly just check name and pic and then go on.

I've written in [Guess], but you're right about that, though I'd expect you Annabelle to mark female as being appropriate for you, though some of us might want to see a box that says [Other] that we could fill in. I've seen other complaints about this strictly binary mentality and think there is a slight groundswell of lash back started. Besides there's no box for Marsh Monster and that's intolerable!

I either check them both or write, 'doesn't apply'.

My voter's registration has a U as sex on it because I wouldn't specify one when I changed my name with the election board.

For years I used to write YES next to them. Then just started checking Female because I am way more female than male. Got called for Federal jury on standby for 2 weeks had to fill out the information form online right under my given male name was the two boxes, checked Female. The first day was a conflict with an Miami endo appointment so I called in and spoke to a lady and told them I had to be off that day as I am a disabled (mentally) veteran and could not miss the appointment. She excused me for that day but said I would have to call in for the rest of them, no problem . A little more conversation and I found out anyone over 50 miles got about $150 dollars per Diem for food lodging and stuff to stay near the court house( that's me). I said great I will get my prettiest dresses ready to go---silence-- then I said by the way I am a transsexual and I am full time transitioning---more silence--I can't wait to be called ! For some reason I was never picked. Shan if they shake out the cobwebs probably remembers this as I told them when it happened. Patty

Oh, I really hate this thing. If it is an online form (means You cant complete them without checking either of them)- there have been cases when I just gave up on it from the very beginning. If it is paper form, I have found that most people dont really care about that information - all they want is Your name, e-mail and cell phone no. so they can start sending ads to You. So, I usually leave them blank because I dont like to frustrate people with male name/surname (our language uses gendered endings for nouns so one can always know if given surname is male or female...). If I absolutely must fill it out (for example, this is the Government thing -then I will check that damn M while cringing inside). In summary, I totally do not feel M anymore and have great difficulties relating to and socialising with them (as a part of that camp). As regards F, I dont yet feel to be there, but definitely much much closer to F than M.

What's even worse are those forms that ask for religion, ethnicity and other information that is entirely non essential to the business at hand. Forty years ago when my younger brother hired on with his company he checked the box that said [Native American] thinking that it pertained to anyone born in America, for forty years he received preferential treatment in spite of his constant episodes of "brown bottle flu" as the management assumed that he was an American Indian and ethnically prone to alcoholism so they looked the other way and gave him a pass, just like Australian aborigines get a pass for going on "walkabout." Back to my point though, I hate the intrusive questions and generally write N/A in those boxes.

Maybe I should write in "Redhead", and that way I'd get a pass for my frequent temper tantrums.
