I've seen something interesting going down in the GSM community lately and I was wondering what your opinions on it were.
Some people go by certain pronouns because they identify with a certain gender (ie: male identified people use "He, him", female identified people use "She, her")
Other people go by pronouns according to their gender expression. (ie: masculine people use "he, him" and feminine people use "she, her")
Thoughts?

I want mine to reflect who I really am.
So I made them up.
Sh'e, h'er.
Some have strong opinions about it. Their pronouns. I like when mine are used.
It feels like respect for who I am.

I think that on my list of things that are important, pronouns are there, but not that high on the list compared to many other things. They shouldn't be a brick wall that others might run into, or have to climb over to get to the more important things I see. But the things I see may not even be on someone else's list of important things. But I would imagine the things that are of importance to them, pronouns are also there, but not as high as other things might be. I tend to just use they, their, no matter who they are anymore. It rarely slows down a conversation, and if it does, I know they are at least paying attention to some of my side of it. And sometimes, if they really don't get it, it's fun to turn it into a 'who's on first' kind of a discussion with them. A few minutes of that, and if they still don't get it, whatever the conversation was about seems rather pointless to have with them. Especially if it was about using pronouns to begin with, and it was they who started it. People and their pronouns, sometimes they think they are more important than the importance of the conversation I did want to have with them.

And in this section of the forest, how many times do I use them when I can't remember what they want.... a safe out. But probably for me a lazy one.
I am never offended when they is used, and I get a kick out of it when she is used on me, I even do it.
Just don't call me he.
So if you can't remember Sh'e, they is totally cool.
Unless you can't remember squat, then heck, who cares what you call us.
But we care about you.
So their.

A year or so ago, it did not bother me so much, but lately I find that I have developed an affinity for female pronouns. I am not offended by the male pronouns, but I seem to have acquired a preference. Must be the hormones

LOL. I don't mind "Bitch" if someone says it with respect. Or maybe a little lust even. I really don't care what anyone calls me as long as there is some kind of respect there. Even the derogatory names like "Shemale" and "Tranny" as long as it's not the "It" word. I feel that takes away all my humanity. I know I'm different. I know some people don't know what to call us. Most people will know us from porn and I can't blame them for that. I then can educate but when people call us "It" then they already have their minds made up of "what" we are and not "who". Even the porn industry don't call us "Its". It may not be the most flattering words but never "Its". Even us MTFs are on par with our female counterparts and vice versa. Yeah playing rock music I kind of walk all kinds of life spectrums. I would rather deal with the trashy any day. They are way more honest and genuine than the suburbanites. I have played bars on skid row and played bars in suburbia, give me "fuckin'" skid row any day.

It has been a while since I was called any male pronouns. Once I was in Home Depot looking for something and asked one of the guys to help me.Was dressed in GV jeans a pretty top and it was obvious what was under the top, and cowboy boots with my hair down. He said sir without paying to much attention then looked again I just said sorry I was born a big ugly girl and never it got any better. He laughed smiled and took me all over the store to collect the rest of the things on my list. I don't care for male pronouns I have presented female for 18 months and do a pretty good job of it but a large part of me is and will always be male, after 63 years there is really no way to change that.We made peace and now live in harmony, the woman is inside and outside but the male is always ready willing and able to defend his girl as he in reality has done all our lives..

Jamie, yeah, the Bitch thing... I totally get that. A dear friend tossed that at me elsewhere in the interweebz and even though she was on the other side of the continent at the time, I saw her grin, I took it with pride and gratitude for the true compliment that, in context, it was. I felt like I had arrived. Yet another reason that I love her Shemale... well I suppose that's still true in my case, after all I still do have the naughty bits I was born with (can't say for how much longer though...) Tranny? It depends where that comes from and how it's delivered. I use it myself sometimes. Playing in bars... my last gig was about a decade ago. Some places I played in, gotta say, happier to be a bass player than a drummer. A Fender PJ makes a formidable weapon ;D Patty, about being misgendered... I'm not full time so I have a steady diet of it. Without the wig, the vast expanse of "forehead" is a dead give away I'm thinking transplant...

. . .Without the wig, the vast expanse of "forehead" is a dead give away I'm thinking transplant... Please let me know how that forehead transplant goes. I might think about that myself.
But on the main topic, a guy misgendered me recently. I didn't say anything about it. Circumstances made it awkward. But I was looking at him in disbelief: "Are you blind?"
I've never told anybody what pronouns to use with me. They tend to get it right without being told. I think that makes them feel better, whatever about me.
