Well I have never been to the UK. But in the US, I have had nothing but respect from cops. Dressed or not. I respect them and they have always respected me. I have been pulled over en femme for speeding and was asked if I preferred Ma'am or Sir. I said, "Respectfully sir, what color toenail polish am I wearing and how short are my shorts and how high are my Sandals?" So he replied,"Ma'am? Right?" I told him he could call me whatever as long as I got a warning instead of a ticket. He laughed and said, Yes Ma'am. We will discuss that when I get back." He went to his car and ran my license number and whatever else and came back with a warning. Even being DOTed on the side of the road dressed en femme, I always got asked what I was preferred to be called. DOTed in scale houses the same thing. At one time I was going to be a cop. I passed all the test even the psychological test. I chose to still drive a truck because I could shave my legs and wear my sexy undies and paint my toes. Not to mention make more money. But to a cop, crime is crime or should be. Hate crimes? If I was a cop today, I would not treat it any different than any other crime. Someone is violated, murdered, or stolen from or whatever else. Most cops don't see sexual orientation, gender identification, white, black, red, yellow or brown. They just see a crime. If it was done out of hate it is still a crime. If it was done out of love it is still a crime. To Cops and I have the deepest respect for them and there are plenty of us that are cops but have to hide and wear wigs on their off time and so on, crime is crime. Whether hate, love, passion or just plain old inconsideration involved. Most if not all will do their duty. Regardless of who the victim is. BTW Hate crimes are nothing new. There have always been gay bashers, trans bashers, racists, sexists, rapists, murderers and so on. Thank God that most if not all cops and detectives take these crimes seriously. There are times that they can't do anything for lack of evidence like the dude that killed his wife and then later himself and his sons in Utah. Lack of evidence. His story stank of BS all around. The cops hands were tied and they knew. The DA had the choice. But that is a politician. Looking to get re elected. Let's not blame the cops that deal with everyday people on all levels and all backgrounds and all colors and all orientations and all identities. Let's put the blame where it actually lies. With the politicians from the DA to the DOJ to POTUS. The Police are the ones that actually respect and protect us. So I bow to all our boys and girls whether male or female or MTF or FTM or non binary in blue. Thank you. But seriously it isn't the police because shit rolls down hill. The DA the DOJ and on up is where the shit starts. But as trans or gay or whatever else. All cops when I have had run ins with them have treated me with nothing but respect.
