"I didn't ask for this"
I didn't ask to be different.. I didn't ask to be me.. No one said sign here, or check this box or that..
Was my brain wired different, Or was it there's.. When did the majority become normal, why am I not the normal one..
I fit into this world quite well.. I don't make a fuss, I sit quietly on the bus, looking straight ahead..
But sometimes I don't fit, Sometimes I don't want to sit.. Sometimes I want to scream, Oh please make room for me..

Beautifully written. You are a poet at heart. Poetry comes from deep empathy or direct experience. You have both. Alone is not good. Recognition of who we are, respect for who we are, support and validation should not be too much to expect or to ask.
I think that our lived experience is so far from that of the majority that we cannot be understood without education, love and visibility. All 3 of which are often in short supply.
Safe travels

I identify so much with your poem. It's lovely. It breaks my heart to think of my pre-teen years and my teenagehood how different I felt and how I was put into a box. It is painful to dwell on your past but we have loo back to accept it for what it was so we can move on and heal.

Thank you Aisla. I may go weeks not being able to write anything, then I wake up in the middle of the night, and write something like this in 10 minutes.? I don't think inspiration can be taught or scheduled, it's always at the whim of ones soul and mind, without regards to time or desire to write..
Oh my, Julie, that was awesome..! It's amzing how these things just pop out of us..
Thank you Persephone. I think you are right. it's necessary to look back in order to heal our wounds of the past. I'm sorry, and feel for you and your teenage years.. I also had similar pains, and have had for most of my life. I really understand..
Thanks..!

Mark, appreciate your kind welcome. Happy to be reunited with friends. I quickly checked a few discussions in some other threads, so deep, more than I am, but interesting to learn from others more about our biology that I'm not that knowledgeable on. Makes my head spin so much it hurts. lol
