OMG. Fivewords, Carnival of Sinsm full concert. Motley Crue on you tube. Check it out. It's like two hours so I won't put a link but one of their best.

In 1972, 42 years ago, I attended and sang at a memorial service for a soldier who died somewhere in the jungle of the Mekong River Delta. He was a classmate and friend of mine, and I touch his name every time I visit Washington DC. The song we sang was written by Peter Yarrow "The Great Mandela" and goes in part "Win or lose now, you must choose now, and if you lose you only losing your life." I heard the song again on a PBS special, and as it has for all this time, it left me with tears on my cheeks. I was never a soldier, in fact I've been a peace activist since I knew what anti-war politics were. But that doesn't lessen the sadness I feel for every lost child of our country who doesn't come home, or who come home irreparably harmed, and they all come home irreparably harmed. These young people have, regardless on ideology, stepped in harm's way for me and I love them. I am thinking of the violence to women. I am thinking of the victims of jihad, of civil war, I am weeping for the lost ones in our own community who will never feel a loving hand or a gentle voice tell them they are loved. I am sitting between two dogs who are in my way and trying to comfort me. Poor kids, it is a full time job sometimes. "Take your place on the Great Mandela as it moves through your brief moment of time. Win or lose now, you must choose now, and if you lose, you've only wasted your life." Julie I was not on the Mekong Delta but would have gladly given my life if the North Koreans ever invaded. Even volunteered to go to Somalia when I was stationed at Ft. Polk but would have had to reup. I could die but could not ever go another two or four years "faking" it. I even volunteered for Desert Storm. But no soldiers in Korea were deployed there other than one KN Medical unit. No "Glory" for me. Definately honor those that would give their lives so that we can be free. Not just the US but every country that sends their soldiers in harms way for freedom even though it may not seem like it to us. But in some places we may be killed. Here and other places we may be harrassed but not killed and those that are by little minded people, well there is a place for those "little minded" people OK. So Levergn Cox made the news this morning for her role on "Orange is the New Black". That gives me hope. Not to mention she was the prettiest woman in the cast they showed.
