Possible trigger warning!
Trans Girl Diaries was created by Evelyn Poor. It was dark, perhaps too dark for some. One of the first comic strips she made was a young pre-op MTF coming out to her parents, only to get immediately shut down. It ended with the pre-op MTF hanging herself in her bedroom with blood written on the walls, "I told you so." with the parent looking traumatised at the sight. This angered and upset a lot of people even if it painted the harsh reality people go through.
She made a chapter that was about time travel, where her current self (a transwoman) was sucked up into a universe hole and was sent back to the timeline in the past when she was a little boy "Johnny", alone in his room. She thought, "This could be a chance to convince my younger self that I'm not a boy, that I'm a girl. I could avoid all the pain and confusion, I can avoid enduring male puberty!" Little did she know, an older male version of herself from the past(?) timeline went back in time to ... for a lack of a better word, "hunt her down" and make the younger boy understand that it's ok to "be a man" and to encourage him to ignore the thoughts inside him and that woman telling him to embrace his true self, to be a woman.
I can't remember how the comic ended - it was a very long chapter, I wish I still had it saved somewhere but unfortunately the website has been down for a long time. If my memory serves me correctly, the older male self had repressed his desire to be his true self (a woman) and ended up turning homicidal as a result.
It was riveting reading and I couldn't help but think, what would I do if I was in that situation? What would you do?
This is the original comic strip she had made that I suspect was what she decided to branch off, take the concept and make a serious chapter about. Not going to lie, it IS a really creative take on the idea and I can't help but be a sucker for time travel stories and how time travel can change everything.
