Hi everyone! I've identified with so many gender labels over the past 8 years. I began transitioning (ftm), identified as genderqueer & non-binary, re-transitioned/de-transitioned 4 years ago, and continued struggling my identity here and there over the years. I'm not sure where my gender journey will lead (...or if it will ever really end), but for now, it's a day to day process of negotiating identity, presentation, and dysphoria.
I'm also a doctoral student in counseling psychology and I do research, teach, and conduct therapy. My research focuses on gender identity, trans* and non-binary identity, LGBTQ community, social justice, and diversity training. I'm currently conducting my dissertation looking at trans* and non-binary affirming therapy. I'm looking for people over 18 who identify as part of the transgender spectrum (e.g., transgender, genderqueer, agender, transsexual, gender non-binary, gender variant, and otherwise not cisgender) and live in the United States to participate. The results of this study will be used to train therapists to provide trans* and non-binary affirming therapy. Watch a watch a short 7-minute video of a therapy session and complete an anonymous survey (15-20 minutes).
One lucky winner will be chosen at random to receive a $50 incentive for their participation! If you want to participate, you can follow the link:http://tinyurl.com/transcommunityCRF

Welcome to the Forum. This forum is unmoderated and only expects respect between members. The emphasis is on support. While differences do arise in most cases they are respected or acknowledged without massive angst.
I think that you will find many folk who share your experience or at least have taken on many gender labels during their journey. Your areas of research will be of great interest to many of us. Please let us know if we can help in any way. Always interested in exploring new threads, ideas and controversy welcome.
Looking forward to your thoughts, comments and experience.
Safe travels
Aisla

Welcome dear. There is already a rich history of experience in these threads, and many gifted minds and hearts.
Feed at the rich feast of the tables of trans....
Enjoy

Hi Taka,
The institutional review board (IRB) only granted the human subject approval to collect data in the United States.

Hi Taka, The institutional review board (IRB) only granted the human subject approval to collect data in the United States. OK so lgbqresearcher, 50 dollars? Really? That's it? how about at least 500 dollars? If you need help it is free and welcome. If you are trying to just get a degree and use us then that won't happen. "One lucky winner"? Please don't patronize us. Especially with $50. So you have identified with pretty much all of us at one time or another, how do you feel? Not everyone here or that is trans are psychologically ignorant. Everyone of us know what makes us tick. We may not be able to put it in words but we know who we are. And believe it or not we know exactly what we are, normal people. I can't speak for everyone but just for myself. I am not a guinea pig. If you are just as fucked up and confused or looking for your own answers and your own identity then you are welcome. But look hon, if you are doing "research" to get your degree and lying about it to us (BTW, we are not idiots) then we will know. I will know. 50 dollars? Really? One lucky winner? Really? So really hon, you should have a first row seat on this ride with your own experiences. If you need help with your own struggle then I would walk through hell to help you. If you are looking for a bunch of transgender people so you can get a degree in freakin' psychology, then I won't spit on you to keep you burning in hell. If you've struggle then take the 50 dollars and use yourself as an example. So lgbtqresearcher? Are you fronting? Are you just trying to get a degree in something that you totally don't understand just because of the sign of the times? Do you really care? Because I have been where you are but chose to go into a different branch of psychology that was way more interesting. So in relation to your original post. I'm not saying you aren't welcome. I am not saying that I don't care. I'm not saying that I won't walk through hell for you, but let's hear a little about you other than you are researching and transitioning. Let's hear about you and not in a researcher capacity. Your struggles and your strife, about you without worrying about anything but you. 50 dollars? Keep it. You may need it and that kind of money isn't school sanctioned. So don't be shy. tell us about you. Not the researcher. What is on your mind. We are here to help anyone but we are not a bunch of guinea pigs. Or do you need to use that in order to identify? If so you can use me and keep the 50 dollars and please don't insult me with that one lucky winner crap. I'll talk to you. I'll talk to you abut anything you want to talk about. If you are trans and going through transition then why not use your own story or experiences? If you want to know but are not trans then just ask. So sorry if you found this insulting or anyone else that found it insulting but talk. Belong. Be a part of the community. If you are going through it then you are just one out of a thousand others. If you want to be apart of the community then be a part. Don't use excuses. Don't use the excuse of research either. We are people. Everyday normal people that just happen to be transgendered but people nonetheless. Not lab rats.

Hi Taka, The institutional review board (IRB) only granted the human subject approval to collect data in the United States. well, that sucks... i'd rather like to see that video and survey. looks like you incurred jamie's wrath though. maybe you should think twice about giving a "prize" that way. you wouldn't really want people to participate just to maybe get some money? i've already participated in other studies for free. once i was interviewed for over an hour, and was surprised to get a gift card for it. participated without even knowing about that...
