so, while i was away in the weekend, my sister and her boyfriend were home amd helped my step father clean up the living room. there were some unnecessary things there, like a broken sofa. that's ok, we didn't need that.
but they also took out all my daughter's drawings that were in the bookshelf and burned them. there were also some letters that her friends had drawn/written to her. is it ok to be a little mad at them for that?
y sister feels no guilt amd thinks she's done the girl a favor. because you're suppoaed to throw away such things after a while, not collect them. but my girl had stored all her creativity in those pictures. i really hated to hear about this, and deeply regret going away in the weekend. having fun singing with the choir was not worth this.
my sister is a real bitch right now.

They really had no business doing anything with them without checking first. Lots of people keep memories like that and to me, its the same as burning someone else's pictures they are saving. So you do have every right to be angry. Its a serious lack of respect and common decency.
And I still have drawings from years ago that a niece did for me and also some she did for my dad. They were on the fridge until the other day when I cleaned it off, but I still am saving them.

My spouse throws out my socks that have a hole in the toe when the tops are still perfectly good! But yeah, that is really rude behavior for Taka's sis to do that, you'd think she'd know better!

she's unfortunately a princess type of girl. my dear little sister grew up to become rather insensitive. it's almost like she doesn't value the past and tries to throw it away.
my daughter says this is the worst thing that has ever happened to her. pictures don't come back, ever. people in my family have treated her harshly and hurt or frightened her. but no abuse compares to this, she says. because she can't get the pics back when they've been burned.

Agree with all of the posts here. Either they were not thinking or their action was designed to hurt. I prefer clumsy but you know them better than I do.

my sister really thinks she's helping the child by teaching her not to become a hopeless collector. that's what hurts most.
just because she hates her own past, she thinks it's ok to burn srawings that my mom had kept from her own chiødhood, as well as drawn letters to me and my mom and some from my daughter's friends.
i can't help hating my sister, her boyfriend, and my step father who allowed this to happen.

i'm done with hating now. but i won't ever trust again. it is betrayal, to attack my child's creativity like that.

they weren't neat, but still sort of organized. this girl never puts any paper flat in her bag.
but that's completely beside the point. a kept drawing is kept. why throw it away without asking the owner first.
they did ask my daughter, but she was too afraid to say no. and some of the drawings were mine that i'd gotten from her. or my mother's.
when i finally get my own house, my sister won't be allowed anywhere near it. unless she realizes the mistake she's made and apologizes properly.
