A thread to use for hurricane stuff, news, concerns, discussion especially, the hurricane specials at a building supply place near you.
Like Trinity, I am worried for Patty, Cynthia, Laura J, and Fuzzy. I just looked at some of what should be the latest on Irma, 8pm Thurs, and it has a very good chance of going right up the middle of FL, still. And it isn't going to fizzle out halfway, it's a hurricane through the next state, SC. Freaky stuff, and because there are more and they have the same potential, it's pretty hard to dismiss climate change. Only the filthy rich pump that story of it not being true, they stand to not lose, they will gain from it, either way, but they do anyways. Even these hurricanes, if you have money in stock, consider a major sheetrock co, anything that is home and business building worthy, window co's... It's what the rich do, they play on the tragedies of others to make even more money, and that money comes from somewhere, usually the ones suffering. But yah, got hurricane views and concerns, here's a thread to use.

It's so big that if it goes over Lake Okeechobee, it will create a storm surge there and possibly take out the dike.

Went to the store earlier because we will run out of dog food by the weekend, so we figured we should get some now.
Stopped by the grocery store because my mom asked us to find her some bread.
Bread aisle in both grocery stores in town is empty. So is the water aisle. Hubby saw the store manager looking at inventory in the water aisle and asked him if they will be getting in any more. He said he isn't sure, but it doesn't really look like it.. most of their suppliers are sending water to Florida, so none left for here.
I don't think I've ever seen this much panic. The stores were packed with people rushing all over the place. Normally they are almost empty because it's a small town. Today it was hard to even make our way through the store because there were so many people.
My step dad does have a generator, so we should be okay if power goes out. Unless gas stations end up empty.
This sucks. Send Irma away!

Having lived in the southeast for a large portion of my life, this one scares me.
What bothers me a lot is all the people that never lived in a hurricane prone area say about those who are not evacuating. So often the forecast is wrong and it either fizzles out or makes a turn somewhere else. If one is employed, evacuating means quitting your job with no notice, and if it turns out not to hit where you are, it was for nothing.

We might get some rain and maybe strong wind. Shouldn't be any worse than a thunder storm, I wouldn't think... Still keeping an eye on it, though. But it looks like the camper will live to see another day, lol. How are you doing?

It does seem like maybe the hurricane has weakened some. Maybe it won't be as destructive as they thought!

There are multiple cams in various places in south FL that you can pick up on YouTube. Some of the live views are multiple with 4 cams going, some doing a rotation with other cams. 9:20 EDT and there are two cams I'm watching at the southernmost point of Key West, it just looks like a storm. They are getting a storm surge from the north right now of a half foot to a foot just from the winds coming from that direction for now. Storm surge in Miami is going to still be really high, the waves coming in are huge, they won't get the flooding, but they will get the highest waves.
